I'm looking for any infomation on the Glorioso family from Bellona. Here's all that I have.

Carl Domenic Glorioso b. 1-24-1931 Plattsburgh, NY, m. 7-9-1931 to Teresa Audrey Brault b. 11-12-1933 Plattsburgh, NY.

Carl's parents who came over from Bellona, Italy and settled in Plattsburgh were John (Carl?) Glorioso b. 4-12-1890 in Bellona, Italy and was married to Rose Villoni b. 11-23-1893, d. 1968 in NY.

John's parents were Carl Glorioso and Mary Grace Mingione. No dates or location info.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

My grandfather came from Bellona Italy also, but settled in Massachusetts. His name was Rapheal Glorioso. Do you think there was a connection. I have very little information as I have tried to locate papers in Italy with no sucess and my family did not seem to know much of anything regarding Italy.

Morning Jeane,

I wish I could answer your question but, as with you, the amount of info I've been able to find is very limited. Actually, everything I know is in my original posting you replied to except to mention that the family (John and Rose) came over on the Andrea Doria. It' wasn't the ill fated trip but knowing the ship sailed for only a few years should make it relatively easy find them in the ships log. I haven't spent much time on the family tree in the last years or so, so I haven't tracked that info down .... yet. I know that doesn't address your question directly but maybe it will help you to in your search.

My father-in-law "Glorioso" went back to Bellona last year and actually met a family of the same name in town but couldn't confirm that they were related. Unless someone can track down a relative with some personal knowledge, I think it's going to be tough to verify things.

It's also my understanding that a lot of the records were destroyed in WWII which makes it just that much more challenging. So, I'd have to say, if you can't track someone down with first hand info, finding definite connections will probably be very tough.

If you should find anything, please feel free to contact me.

Regards,

Kim

My Grandfather, Louis (Luigi) Glorioso is also from Bellona Italy. My Family is doing a family tree, so I can dig through their info to see if I can help. His nephew, Antimo Glorioso still lives in Bellona.

I'll try to get back to you next week with dates.

I was so happy to see your posting! I think I know the Carl Glorioso you refer to -- my dad went to school and was good friends with Carl Glorioso - would be St John's (Plattsburgh) Class of 1949 I think. The last time my dad and I visited his friends before he died was in 1997. We saw Mr Glorioso, who came up from Massachusetts. I believe he has a twin sister Gloria? Does this help?
