I am looking for the parents, grandparents of my g-g-grandfather and of course, any links!, In otherwords, the trail backwards- Henry Rupp Hamaker, born York, PA 1828. Married Anne Elizabeth Zigler (b1828) in Columbia, PA in 1848. He had 9 children (my ancestor is William Henry White - born 1853). What I heard from my grandmother was that the other 8 were Mary Emily (1849), Elizabeth Estelle (1851), John Samuel (1856), Ambrose Cyril (1858), Charles Francis (1861), Walter Sterling (1864) (married Barbara Ann Boyer in 1885), Julia Catherine (1866) and Alice Irene (1872). I can get back to this point but so far, no further. The family seems to have focused on Columbia, PA but Ambrose was born in Cumberland, MD. Also York, and Reading figure in there as well. Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks for the feedback. I have only been looking in Berks and Lancaster but I probably should widen my search. One problem is that county records are pretty sparce in the early and mid 1800's.

To Donna Marker:

Well, I don't think we are researching the same line but there is an interesting parallel. One of the brothers of my ggrandfather (William Henry White Hamaker) was Walter Sterling Hamaker. He married a Barbara Ann Boyer. Walter Sterling Hamaker was born 4/3/64 and died 2/3/1914. Walter was born in York Furnace, PA

Kathy:

I do have a bdate for my gggrandfather (Henry Rupp Hamaker) which is (supposedly 1828) in York, PA in 1828. Unless were cousins???they wouldn't be the same individuals. The bdate I have is from a family bible that was referenced by a researcher who was writing to my grandmother - but all I saw was a letter. The bible was held by a John Fischer Hamaker, formerly in Washington DC

That is an interesting parallel. The way we spell Hamaker is unusual in the Harrisburg area although the Boyer name is very common. There probably is a link somewhere way back. I've asked my brother to check the family bible for any names, births, and deaths. Hopefully it will go back to the name of my ggrandfather Hamaker.
