Just seeing if anyone is familiar with Urban Janisch, Norm, or Jim Janisch. Just trying to find out if there is lost family out there.

I have a uncle, Jim Janisch who lives near Chicago. He would be somewhere in his 70's. He was originally from SD.

My Uncle Jim was from here but moved to AZ. He had a brother Urban, my Grand Father. Is this the same Uncle. I remember that my Uncle Jim had been shot in the leg in WW2. He also was very funny.

Let me know

I recently came across some Janisch's from Chicago who are related to a side line in family. James Janisch married Judith Weise. They had 3 children, James, Jill May, and Debbie.

Does this match any of your data?

I am looking for a Joseph Janischm, b. July 21, 1918, who married Peble Fern Allen, b. September 15, 1917.
They ran a meat store. They had 2 daughters.
They lived in the Chicago area until Joseph's death. Peble Fern moved to Denton, TX near one of her daughters. When she became ill her daughter took her back to Chicago where she died March 07, 1997.

Peble Fern had a sister named Mary June. I found Mary June living with her Aunt Ruby in Atchison, KS in the 1930 census. I have not found Peble Fern on any census. Peble Fern and Mary June were born in Shawnee, OK before 1920.

Hi Frankie,

I don't know if you remember me, but I am your cousin Jean Janisch. My dad was Jim Janisch, and his brother was Urban. I live in AZ, and would love to hear from you.

Hi Frankie,

I am a Janisch origiginaly from Chicago. Some of the family members were Marie, Rudy, John, Marie Straus (Janisch)and I'm sure many others that I don't know. My father's father John was killed when he was 27 (around 1939)so my Dad and his sister Bev were put in an orphanage. The family was split up. I would love to find my father's side of the family.

Thanks,
Holly

Hi Holly,
My grandfather and some of his brothers came from Austria starting in the 1910 or so, there was a John, Joseph, Ludwig, Theresa, Anna. I have noticed a some Janisch's in SD and MN and wondered if there was some connection. Some of them worked in MN which was pretty close to SD, they were all farmers. Do you know what there parents names were? Years of immigration?

Good Morning,

I pulled up the Cook County Illinois Census from 1920. It very well may be that my great grandfather came here in 1910. It's kinda hard to read. My great grandfather came here from Austria Hungaria. I am not sure about his brothers or sisters but through my research I know he married Maria who came from Germany. They had 6 kids John, Rudy, Ferdidnand, Marie, Caroline, and William. If you send me your email I would be glad to send you a copy of the census along with any other info I find. I have actually met one of my Janisch cousins on the internet. We didn't even know the other exsisted. Technology is absolutly amazing. I also have a copy of the ship manifest for Johan Janisch from the Ellis Island archives. It was not uncommon for the names to be spelled differently. Please feel free to email me at hollyjanisch@yahoo.com.
Have a great day.

Holly
