JOHN BRAGG ARRIVED WITH CAPT. JOHN SMITH ON ISLES OF SHOALS OFF NEW HAMPSHIRE/MAINE IN C.1615 TO SET UP FISHING INDUSTRY AFTER SMITH HAD BEEN RECALLED FROM VIRGINIA FOR POLITICAL REASONS AFTER HIS ADVENTURE WITH POCOHANTASTHE BRAGGS ARE FROM DEVON ENGLAND. I AM SEEKING THE LINK FROM JOHN BRAGG BACK TO ENGLAND VIA CAPT. SMITH'S RECORDS. ANYBODY HAVE ANY IDEAS WHERE THESE RECORDS COULD BE FOUND? I HAVE FAIRLY COMPLETE LINE FROM JOHN BRAGG TO THE PRESENT.HOW THESE RELATE TO THE SOUTHERN BRAGGS I'M NOT SURE. IT IS POSSIBLE THAT A BRAGG WAS WITH CAPT. SMITH IN VA, MAYBE EVEN THE SAME JOHN BRAGG OR HIS BROTHER, IN WHICH CASE THE NEW ENGLAND BRAGGS AND SOUTHERN BRAGGS ARE ALL RELATED.LOOKING FOR HELP..

My grandmother was Liza Ann Bragg who married Harrison or Henry Harrison Crawford. They lived and were burried on Island Creek, W. Va.about 12 miles from Charleston. This is all the info I have and am wondering if you would have anything of them in your records. P.S. She probably had sisters Mealie Bragg and Alice Bragg

My Pricie James is actually Pricie Owens m. Jesse L. James. abt 1875 d. 1918. But Pricie James is a very unusual name, I suggest we keep each other in mind, as we do our research. Mary James Mitchell

Pricie James married John Henry Bragg. Pricie took her mothers maiden name, James. We have traced her very closely to a Frank, a Seth, and Jesse James. My mother has a tape recording of someone in our family, that has since passed away, and she tells the story very clearly.

They are not the same, but there has to be a connection. My family insists that my Great Grand father Jesse Lee James (Pricey's husband) was cousins to Jesse Woodson James (outlaw. In fact the Wadena paper carried an article about it years ago. Whether conjecture or otherwise, I am not sure. My father (85)(Frank R. James) maintains that he was named after the Frank James. When qustioned about it, he merely says check the dates. They knew he was dying and named me after him. My father was born one day before Frank James died. another conjecture? I don't know, I am really trying to research the answers, but it is hard. you either run into dead ends or the direct line of Jesse and Frank who are discouraged by all the want-a-be James's. I would be willing to pay for a copy of that tape. I am preparing a family history book for our first ever Jesse Lee James reunion in Whitefish, Montana in August. mitch@nidlink .com Mary

My great grandmothers name was -Pricie Ann James- born October 3, 1889, possibly in Summers County, West Virginia. Pricie was born under her mothers maiden name. Her mothers name was -Harriet Elizabeth James-, she was born December 17, 1866, in Kanawha County, West Virginia. We aren't sure who Pricie's father was. However, Harrietts father's name was -Davis James- and he was born March 5, in either 1821 or 1831, on Whitewaters Creek, Nicholas County, West Virginia. Davis married -Pricie Pinson- who was born July 10, 1835 in Pike County Kentucky. -Davis James'- father and mother were, -Jesse James- married to -Mary Morris-. Pricie Pinson's parents were John Jacob Pinson born on May 25, 1814 in Pike County Kntucky. He married, Mary Belcher, and she was born May 5, 1813, in Pike County, Kentucky. My great grandmother, Pricie Ann James married John Henry Bragg, November 17, 1909 and they lived in Summers County, West Virginia along with their children Ethel, Carl, Paul, Pearl, Earl and Patsy.

I have just read your posting of April 6th regarding John Bragg who landed on the Isle of Shoals in NH in the 1600's. You indicated that you have a complete line from then to the future (which I seem to be missing), but I might be able to help you with the England side of the line. I'm trying to find out the descendents of JOhn to the present, and the libraries in Rye, Portland, Portsmouth, as well as historical societies have not given me too many answers.
I would appreciate any information that you might like to pass on.

Thank you.
