My James Cruickshank was born to John Cruickshank and Elisabeth Scorgie at Banchory-Devenick, Kincardineshire. They were not married. James was raised by his Scorgie grandparents and probably took the name of Scorgie later on. His father John Cruickshank does not seem to have been local to Banchory-Devenick, and may have been from Aberdeen. James was brn in 1849. He was half brother to my grandfather, another illegitimate birth, 1861, given the name of George Scorgie.

Surnames: James Cruickshank Scorgie
I have been online trying to find more information on a James Cruickshank Scorgie who is stated to be from Aberdeen Scotland. He is my greatgrandfathers Brother. My greatgrandfather was Alexander E. Scorgie from Aberdeen. I have not done a family tree for I have health issues tht make it hard for me to sit most days.

The James Cruickshank Scorgie I speak of was born in in Aberdeen in August 1851. He then moved to Cambridge MA US in 1873 at age 22. I know that he worked for 40 years at Mount Auburn Cemetary in Cambridge and was involved with many of fields during his life span. He moved to Harvard Massachusetts with his wife and they had three daughters. His wifes name was Anna Munson Scorgie. There children were Anna, Helen and Elvira. I have a wonderful article of the life of James Cruickshank Scorgie that is unbelievable. His daughters I heard never married. Elvira died in 1993 in Harvard Mass at age 106. She was extremly active there in town history and was known to be Harvards oldest citizen. I have a few nice article on her life too. The articles I have of her and her father facinated me and that is now how I came to writing you. I found from the sensus in Cambridge MA just the other day that my greatgrandfather was born in Aberdeen in 1866. His brother James in 1851. I struck me odd that there is 15 years difference in age and seeing your post today I find it a bit coincidental. My grandfather was Robert Craig Scorgie third born to Alexander. James's brother. My email adress is My name is Diane. Please reply is any of this fits or makes sence. Thanks
