Is there anywhere that can be accessed online where you can look at lenoir county marriage records? I've got a few set's of grandparents that were married between the early 1880's thru the 1940's that I haven't been able to find that I'm not sure on the date's of. I've sent in to register on deed's for the one's I know but haven't had much luck on finding the others online.

Do you have access to Ancestry.com? I do if I can help. There are a few websites with some Lenoir marriages listed. The register of deeds in Kinston is the best place to go, in my experience.

I do have ancestry.com and I've searched all the index's that I have been able to find there. and I've also tried searching everything on LenoirCountylostsouls at what they have there with no luck. Do you have to go to that specific county to search record's in that county or can you access it at any ROD office?

I have a Lenoir county cemetery book, Vol 1 that has helped some. There are a lot of Lenoir co. cemeteries indexed here on the internet. Maybe that will help. Patricia Almor published the book I have. She lives down that way in NC. I have been to Kinston and Trenton's courthouse. Kinston's is open to the public and is very good and free. It also has birth records . Jones county sent all of it's records to the Raliegh Archives many years ago. Raleigh may be a good place to go. If Martha Marble sees this posting, she may know how better to help you. I am sure you have googled for Lenoir county marriages, but that seems limited. Where do you live? I am in Suffolk,Va and occasionally get down that way. What names are you looking for?

Lenoir County had a couple of major courthouse fires in 1878 & 1880 that destroyed most of their early records. The Marriage Registers 1873-1966 are on microfilm and are probably available for viewing through your local LDS Family History Centers.
FamilySearch has a terrific database of "NC Marriages 1759-1979" which are online and searchable and if you haven't done so before you might want check it out:

https://www.familysearch.org/search/collection/show#uri=http...

(put in a name, then click "Any" and put in the County, without the word "county", and State)

Also, check out the NCGenWeb Lenoir County website, it lists a number of resources for all kinds of research, some of it may be on their website:

ok, I was able to pull up a few that I was able to look on the LDS Family Search site. there are some others that I still haven't had any luck finding yet though. I'll plan a trip down to the courthouse in Kinston sometime when I get a chance to get down that way, I just don't get much time to be there when they are open. I'm up towards Raleigh so if I get off work early it doesn't leave alot of time to get down there before they close.

thanks guys alot of good idea's.

If you're in Raleigh, why don't you check out the NC State Archives there? They have the Lenoir Co. Marriage Register both the copies and on microfilm. Or you can check with the Olivia Raney History Library, also in Raleigh, which contains many NC records; you can contact them from the info on their website:

The one I haven't been able to locate is Clayton Tyndall to Lillie Bell Wiley would have been married appx 1920ish could be a few years before or after would think It would of been in lenoir county have tried other local counties also. Only other place I can think of would of possibly been in Dillon, SC but don't think they got married there.
