I am looking into some information about the Hoernkes of Milwaukee and central wisconsin. Recently at a family reunion I got a book about the Hoernkes/Hernkes. In our family we use both spellings. The book has stories about the family members, some of which are from milwaukee. If you would like any more information, contact me.

I am researching the surname.....HORNKE. I know when I was younger(much), we went to a family reunion in Milwaukee once. Was just wondering if this may be another spelling of a surname you are looking for.

Please email me direct

Hi Mary,

My Great-Grandmother's name was Laurette (Lauretta) Hoernke and she married Fred Roepke. They lived in Milwaukee for several years after arriving here in 1884 from Germany. My Great-Grandmother had a sister that lived in Milwaukee and I have not as yet been able to find out what her name was. I think that my great-grandparents lived near Mitchell Street, probably in the Layton Park area. Do you have any Lauretta's in your research?

If the surname Giesbers or Gjisberts is in your family tree we may have a match. I am actually looking for the spelling HORNKE, but I have also found it spelled HOEMKE.
