Ruel N. BEEBE, Saturday May, 1968
Ruel N. BEEBE, 86, 106 Susan Ave., a prominently known retired businessman, died at 10:05 p.m. Saturday in Sturgis Memorial Hospital where he was admitted May 19. He also had been a hospital patient earlier, prior to his last illness.
Mr. BEEBE established his cleaning and laundry business in Sturgis in 1931 and operated it until 1949 when he retired.
Mr. and Mrs. BEEBE moved to Sturgis from South Bend, Ind., where they had operated a similar enterprise.
He was born in Vicksburg on Oct. 1, 1882, a son of Chester and Marissal (PORTMAN) BEEBE. He was married to Laura Melvin HARRIS, in Coldwater, Oct. 25, 1924.
At the time of his death, Mr. BEEBE was serving as drain commissioner for St. Joseph County.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and was a life member of Sturgis Elks Lodge No. 1381.
Surviving besides his widow, are a daughter, Mrs. Robert C. (Laura) DAVIS; one grandson, Fred LOETZ; and a great-granddaughter, Tammie Sue LOETZ, all of Sturgis, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Last rites will be observed at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the First Presbyterian Church with the pastor, the Rev. William Bowen, officiating.
Interment will take place in Oak Lawn Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Foglesong Funeral Home until Tuesday noon at which time the body will be taken to the church.
