Dottie -
Lewis Dunham would have been my uncle, my
mother was Martha Dunham. My Mom was born
around 1909, I am not sure about Uncle Lewis.
Their Mother's name was Minnie - don't know
father's name.
Uncle Lewis moved away from Hornell to
someplace in Ohio, but I don't know where.
He was married and his wife's name was also
Martha -
- she had 3 children by a previous marriage
(Perry was their last name.)
- 1 boy and 2 girls, the boys name was
Ronnie and I can't remember the girl's names.
I would appreciate anything that you would
have - thanks so much.

Nancy: The 1910 Steuben County census should give you answers. Have you tried writing the Steuben County historian in Bath? I know she has a Dunham file and she is very helpful. My Lewis Dunham was born in 1822, son of David. David also had a brother Lewis Dunham (sons of Thomas). Would guess it's the same family line, but don't know where your Lewis fits. If I can help, e-mail: dandjfreeze@dellnet.com

Dottie -
No I have not tried anything but here, but I
will try contacting Bath. Thank you for the
suggestion. Isn't it sad that I never
had my mother write anything down about her
family? She used to talk about them but I
don't remember a whole lot. Thanks again for
help - that is a good start.

Dottie -

I remembered last night that my mom used
to talk about Uncle Dave - so I am sure it is
the same family line. I will do as you
suggested. This is great!!

My father was David Roy Dunham, born in Hornell, NY in 1896.
He was the son of Dr. Roy and Mary Linderman
Dunham. He had at least one brother, Richard,
and a sister Katherine. He moved to Clearwater, Florida
in the 1940's and died in 1961. I know he was married before
moving south and had some children from that marriage.
He was granted a divorce before marrying my mother in 1947.

I do not know if there is any connection with your family, but I doubt if there
were too many Dunham's in Hornell, NY.

I know my Uncle Richard became a well-respected Professor of
Theater at the University of Wyoming and University of Hawaii.

Can anyone provide additional information?

Thanks,

Don

Hi Don -
I am at work and do not have the information
that I have received with me. I will certainly
look at it tonight and let you know what I find.
My mother also used to talk about Aunt Kate
- I really do think there is a family connection.
Try e-mailing dandifreeze@dellnet.com - Dottie is
her name - she seems to have some good info.

Hi Don -

Unfortunately, I did not find any of the info
that you are looking for. I did find cemetary
records for what would be your grandparents-
Year of birth and death. Surprisingly, there
are alot of Dunhams in the cemetary records
(like the Smiths). If you want those records,
let me know and I will send you a copy.
I am going to do some further checking - will
let you know what I find. Also, please keep me in mind. Thanks!! My e-mail
address is wildmans@muohio.edu. We live in
Oxford, Ohio (near Cincinnati).

"Landmarks of Steuben County" gives biographical sketch of Dr. Roy Dunham b. Howard July 14, 1864. He married Mary Linderman Oct 28, 1891. Was son of Thomas and grandson of David. E-mail me your address and I'll send you copy if you don't have it. Dottie dandjfreeze@dellnet.com
