Crowley, Mahoney, Ballineen/Enniskeane

My G-grandparents were James Mahoney and Mary Crowley of Ballineen/Eniskeane area. I have a copy of their marriage record on Feb. 15, 1857. The only other info on the record is the witnesses: John Mahoney and Jerry Crowley. According to family lore, James Mahoney was a schoolteacher. They had 6 children I know of, John, Ellen, James, Julia, Mary, and Jeremiah. Among the baptism sponsors are a Daniel Mahoney, and Denis and James Crowley. I'm trying to find out the parents of both my g-grandparents but there are a lot of people the same names in the area. Any suggestions?

The names Mahony and Crowley are common but I might have a Crowley contact for you.

I only did a quick peek, but it doesn't look like the Enniskean church records show residence. Fortunately some of the children of this couple were born after civil registration started. Birth records under civil registration will show the residence of this family. When you have the residence it might help you narrow down where to continue looking.

The link shows some of the children in the Irish Births and Baptisms special collection at Family Search.

You can also look under Irish Civil registration, find the same children and try finding the same references.

You can then either visit a family history library and look these up on film or send away to the civil registration office for whatever is in their registry book.
