I am searching for information on Joe S. Simmons m. Virginia Ella Mcadams. They are buried at the McAdams cemetary/Bledsoe Rd. Some of their children moved to Tx. either a son or grandson was a Baptist preacher named Robert and he played guitar and sang on the radio in Tx. I would be interested in hearing from any of their descendents. Judi

Questions:

1. Have you gotten a copy of Joseph & Virginia's marriage record from Lincoln county, TN. It is possible Joseph was still a minor and had to have permission to marry. If you do this, be sure to ask who gave permission for them to marry. They will not tell you this if you do not ask.

2. I have seen it record that Joseph's son, Arthur C Simmons was Arthur Carol Simmons. Has this middle name been proven by death certificate or other means. He died 7 31 1930. Have you gotten a copy of this death certificate.
I suspect his name might have been Arthur Caswell Simmons.

3. I also suspect Joseph was the son of James Caswell Simmons who married Martha Jane Davidson 7 29 1848 in Lincoln, TN. They had a child shown on the 1860 census for Lincoln County, TN as Joel Simmons, age 2 and on the 1870 census for Lincoln, Tn as Joel age 12. By 1870 Martha was a widow but lived the rest of her life in Lincoln county, shown as age 79 in 1910.
Please EMail me your thoughts on all this.

You said your husband was a grandson of Robert Simmons. Who was Robert's father? When was Robert born and where did he live?

Hello Peggy, I responded via email and would be happy to discuss more :)

Roberts father was Other Earl Simmons, his mother was Ada Louise Jackson. Robert was born in Fayetteville, Lincoln County, Tenn on 20 Dec 1918, he lived there for many years and relocated to the San Antonio area of Texas shortly after he left the military, where he became a Baptist minister and church builder.
