The name Kidney 63 in Ireland and 47 listed for County Cork!

John Kidney, Parish Kilmonoge, Mountlong

John Kidney, Parish St. Finbar's, Ballinure

Other names Michael, Daniel, Bartholomew, Denis, Peter, William, Margaret
Maurice, Lawrence, David, Thomas, Catt, Cath, Cathl and
Devin.

Clarke 9 in Cork, David, Goodhand, Robert, William & John

None from the same Parish's. Next would be to compare
Poor Law Union as they covered 12 mi. and contained Parish's, townlands, villages and towns.

Do any of these names other than John the most common name in Ireland? Something unusual in their children's name.
John would of named his children with his brother and sisters names.

www.askaboutireland.ie Griffith Valuation 1847-1864 and
Cork is 1852. There are several Kidney's with the name John, some of these will be 1 person with several properties, the same for Clarke.

Unless you know the brothers of your John Kidney there isn't must point going through these. There are 338 Kidney's in the 1901 Census.www.census.nationalarchives.ie

Normally I would go through the Cork phone book and look for people who are still living in the same areas but
I'm not getting the website to work. You can then write
to a few in each area while you wait for family to get in touch.

The family left in the middle of the famine years and may have been looking at survival as well as a new life.
RC or Protestant?

There are two sources of record for baptisms and marriages, one is only for the North and East of Cork*.

I do know there is St. Finbar's records on this website.
This is not just for census.

I think that is the best I can do for you.

Ms. Annette,

I have a friend who lives in Canada, I live in the USA, both of us are related to the Kidney family. She thinks John Kidney have siblings named Thomas b-1823, William b- 1828/30, and maybe Mary Elizabeth too. She is going to work on this. Thank you
Carole Lynn
