My Kimbroughs: Thomas and Mary Kimbrough, children Mattie and Richard were living in Sand Hill, Tippah, MS in 1880. Thomas's mother Frances Sale/s Kimbrough died in 1879 and is burried "near Ripley". Mary's family, Jacob R. and Nancy A. Wilson were living in Salem, Tippah, MS in 1870.

I have not run across any of these names in the abandoned and forgotten cemeteries. Are their burial places not listed in the Tippah or Benton websites?

Arlene - If any of your family were buried there, their headstones are not. The last time I was there, we found two buried about 2ft under dirt and leaves and in perfect shape. There is no telling how many more may be there. However, after the buring of the town, many moved. They maybe listed at the Salem Post Office, but that actually covered a large geographical area around Ashland. You may want to contact the Benton County Historical Society. They have so much information. If you need their phone number, let me know.

Frances wife of John B. Ayres
John B. Ayres
Augusta Lucei daughter of John B. and Frances
Williametta S. daughter of Wm. and L.C. Ayres
Elizabeth J. daughter of Wm. and L.C. Ayres

I believe there may have been a few more and I'll look.
