Robert Lee Crisp

was a charter member of the Church of Christ in Kimble Co., Junction, Texas,
in September of 1880. One of 17- there was and is a bridge in Kimble Co. that is named
after him, because he built a wooden dam on the Llano River.

I have met some of his grandchildren and one of his daughters,
when I was in school withher daughters. (She was Jessie Ellen Crisp Collier)

If you will tell me what you want i will try to send all I have.
His great-grand daughter, Kathy Williams, sent me am up to date family tree
up to about 1987- or 88, but I lost contact with her. She lives in San Antonio.

Thanks Doris.... I had some of this information, but not all of it. I have Samuel with 3 wives, 18 children and 3 stepchildren. Is that what you have?

Another question.... The birth record for one of his children in Kimble County shows his name as Robert Loving Crisp. Have you ever heard of his name actually being "Loving" instead of "Lee?"

Do you have any information on ancestors of Samuel Mathis Crisp or any ancillary information on Mattie Cox's family?

yes, that is what i have. glad to help. on robert lee,
i have heard both "lee" and "loving", but our family say
lee. we don't have any documents to prove who Samuel
Mathis Crisp's parents are, and we don't have any
information on Mattie Cox's family. his mother and father
names are supposed to be Elizabeth Matthews(Georgia) and
William M. or W. Crisp( North Carolina).

Surnames: Crisp, Cox, Turman
I am the granddaughter of Sarah Irene Crip. She was the fourth child born to Robert (loving) or (Lee) Crisp. She met my grandfather Samuel Reese Turman on a stage coach ride from Junction, Texas to? On the way back they grew fond of each other and eventually married. Family rumor has it that Mattie Cox was full Cherokee. My grandmother Sarah Irene looks a little like she might be part but, my father Robert Milton Turman definitely looks like he is part Cherokee. Anyone know if this native heritage is there?
