Surnames: Parker
I have a great great grandfather named Moses Parker who immigrated from Northern Ireland in 1813 and after marrying Abigail Bowman from the Netherlands, settled in Huntingdon County. Several children were born in Barre (formerly Barre Furnace)in that county. The family or at least some of them lived at one time in Warriors Mark, Huntingdon County, although others relocated to Fayette, Cambria ,Clearfield, and Centre Counties. It appears that Moses and Abigail died and are possibly buried in Huntingdon County. Some of their children's names were Mary (m.Chaney with daughter Soula who m. Miles Henderson); Adam; David H.(m. Mary Ann Dale); Elizabeth (m.Emery); Abigail Bowman; Harman; John; and George E.

WEIGHT, of Three Springs. After her marriage, she lived at Rockhill Furnace for a year, after which the family moved to Pitcairn, where she remained until her death.

She was the mother of nine children, eight of whom survive her. The eldest, Lela Lucretia, died at the age of seven months, while the family still lived at Rockhill. Those surviving are her husband, C.D. WEIGHT, C.D. WEIGHT, Jr., L. S. WEIGHT, Mrs. Sadie ZIMMERMAN, Mrs. Martha FULCOMER, Rudolph, Laverne, Wilmer and Esther WEIGHT, all of Pitcairn; six granchildren and two brothers and a sister, D. P. WHITSEL, of Mt. Union, and Mrs. John SHUE, of Hill Valley also survive.

Mrs. WEIGHT was a member of the W.B.A. number 236, and of the United Brethren Church, with which she became affiliated early in life. She was a very prominent member of the church, belonging to the Alpha Ladies Bible Class, the Womens Missionary Society, and the Ladies Aid, and she also taught a class of girls in the Sunday School who loved and revered her as a teacher.

At seven oclock, October 20, the Macabees held a short service at the WEIGHT home, after which an impressive service was conducted amid a veritable garden of flowers sent by friends, by------------------------------------- the Brethren Church of Pitcairn.

The beautiful hymns, Where He Leads Me I Will Follow, and Jesus Savior Pilot Me were sung by a quartet, after which Reverend REESE delivered some touching words appropriate to the influential and useful life she led as a citizen, neighbor, friend and mother. On Sunday morning, October 25, she was taken to Three Springs, where a short service was held in the family, Brethren Chruch by Reverend MICKEY. She was interred in the family plot at Three Springs Cemetery, where her baby was buried.

On November 8, at eleven oclock A.M. as service dedicated to her memory will be held in the United Brethren Church of Pitcairn by Reverend REESE, to which all of her friends are invited to come.
Her influence extended far beyond her own family, and she will be missed by many as a loving friend and good neighbor.

I had some Waite's (sometimes spelled Weight) in Huntingdon
County, West Township. More particularly, David Waite, my great grandfather. My grandfather, Charles Waite, was born in Tyrone in 1872. If you run across these Waite's, let me know. Have you contacted Vickie Waite Trostle. She has written a book about the Waite's, but I'm not sure what it contains. Her e-mail address is vewaite@aol.com. Good luck. Gene.

Richard,
Do you have any other info on Moses Parker, birth or death dates? I have Amos Parker, birth date only a guess-1820 +/- , married Christina Taylor in PA.
Had John S. Parker b. November 30, 1849 in Center Co.(may have been others I don't know about) married Mary Hammond from Clayton Co. IA. (have other info from these 2 if there's a connection.)
Did Moses come here w/any other family? Maybe Amos was a brother?
Thanks,
Nora

Looking for information about William Alexander. Don't know much about him. Born 1835 and died 1904 (this according to his tombstone). His son, James Creston Alexander, is my grandfather (m. Edith Myers). I beleive William was married to Jannette Gray. She was born 1865. All mentioned are buried at St. John's Luthern Church in Summerhill, Cambria County. Can anyone make a connection to William????
