Just starting family research and would
appreciate any help that might be out there.
My husband's grandfather was William Bailey
Chastain...we can't get the story straight,
but family was in Oaklahoma, Indian Territory,
Arkansas. Earlier in Georgia and Virginia.
He married a Kenyon, Maryanne, we believe.
Sons of William Bailey included: William
Benjamin Chastain, George Chastain, Daniel
Chastain, Earl Chastain, Hazel Chastain, and
Ted Chastain.
If anyone has any leads...I've already talked
with the Pierre Chastain group, and no
relationship there that we can find...I'd
really appreciate it. Merci beaucoup! Vivian

We have a tradition of William B. Chastains
with each having a different middle name,
but always starting with a B.

The oldest I have is William Bailey Chastain,
my husband's grandfather. Believe he was
born in Missouri and married Mathilda Kinion
in Arkansas. Born circa 1880 we believe.

One of his sons was William Benjamin Chastain
born in Arkansas or Oklahoma, we're not sure.

Do either of these sound familiar?

Sorry for the delay, but I was traveling in
October-November, then the Holidays, right
after which I took a bad fall and am in a
wheelchair for a while finally. Looks like
everythign will be ok but it takes time.
Please accept my apologies. Vivian

Hi, Vivian: We have have a match. We took it from the census records as Wm. H., but it could be a B. The story goes that he left with an Indian Lady, but nobody knows where. Our William was born about 1854 according to Cobb Co.,GA census records.
Had one sister. It is well documented with his grandfather was an Indian Trader.

It is really strange that the name Bailey comes up since that is my maiden name and my grandfather was William Bailey. Please check birthdate for William. Thanks.

Hi...sorry for being slow to reply but I've
had an accident and am in a wheelchair...
takes forever to get anything done.

My William Bailey was born in 1880, we believe,
in Missouri. About 1907, he married a
Mathilda "May" Kinion. I am looking for the
father of William Bailey Chastain, who we
believe came from Georgia. All the first-
born sons for at least 4 generations that
we know of have the first name William,
all a different middle name, but always
starting with the letter B. I can't find
the father of the Wm Bailey born in 1880.
If you think we have a match, please let me
know. Thanks so much! Vivian

I am looking for My Great Uncle, WIlliam Bailey. He was born in about 1880 in MO. He moved to Caddo, OK where he married and had at least 4 children, one daughter was named Doris. I don't know his wife's name. About 1912 he moved with his family to Amarillo, TX where he started a trucking business. I think his mother's name many have been Josephine Chastain from Mo. if you think there may be a connection please e-mail me at lynn4music@hotmail.com.
Thanks,

My husband's grandfather was William Bailey
Chastain, born 1880 in MO (don't know where).
He married a Mathilda (May) Kinion (born in
Arkansas) and they moved to Oklahoma. They
had 7 children, one of which was a daughter
named Hazel...I do not know of a Doris.

The children, born in Arkansas and Oklahoma
are: (not in order of birth) William Benja-
min, Earl, George, Hazel, Dan, Paul and
Theodore. Family eventually went west, some
to Arizona, and most wound up in California
eventually.
If you can see any connection, let me know
and I can supply more information. Vivian
