I just wanted to say that an old respected historian passed away on Sept 21, 2012. Mr Vernon LeCraw, author of "The Land Between", Canadian WW2 veteran was from Norland, Ontario where he grew up and raised his own family.

I have just seen this and it saddens my wife and myself.
Vernon responded to a request in 1996 for help in finding any families I had in Canada since my 3x Great Grandfather William Beech went there in 1840.
He spent time at Toronto Archives and sent many letters and documents to me in UK.
We met twice when we travelled to Ontario and was always there to help in my research.
All I can say is he was a Great Great Man and I am proud to have known him.
God Bless you Vernon

My Father Vernon LeCraw passed away on September 21st, 2012, not Sept. 20th. Thanking you in advance for correcting this error.
