I am looking for anyone related to John H. Hunt born 5 Aug 1822 Birmingham, England. Travelled to Samoa approx. 1845-1850, died 18 Nov 1893. Some people think he was from Stepney, a carpenter, married to a Mary, married by the Governor General. Please contact me if you know anything.
Thanks, Vickie. (Australia)

Hi Vicki,

My name is Tua Wilson, my mother is Lusia Hunt - John Hunt was a great great grandfather to her (there is a lot of "greats" in there - but YES, I was told of this by my sister who knew our grand father well. My sister's name is Juliana, she still lives in Vaitoloa (small village). My sister's married name is currently Juliana Mauga - but last I heard she is definitely still living in that area if you wish for more details!

I am curious about your search - what is it all about?

Please respond!

Tua

John H. Hunt is my gggrandfather. His daughter Mary is my great grandmother. This is what I know. John H. Hunt was born 5 August 1822 in England. He died 18 Nov 1893 in Vaitolou, Upolu, Western Samoa. He married on 15 Aug 1867 to Tuimale ali' Fano Saluamoa. She was born about 1826 in Fasito'Otai, Upolu, Western Samoa. She and John had 14 children and my ggmother was #7. I do have his descendants through his daughter Mary if interested.

Hi just wondering if you can help me out a little. i am searching a little more into the hunt family as my mother was born to a sega hunt from vaitoloa who also has a sister by the name ioana who bought my mother to new zealand in 1960 to 1961. ioana returned to samoa with her husband after residing a few years on karangahape rd, auckland when he was working down at the auckland wharf front - where as far i know ioana has passed away since - very little has been known as my mother was bought up mainly on her mothers side...i am at present in england and would appreciate any information....do any of the above names fit along the tree line?

Bernie,
I am not familiar with that particular Hunt family but you could contact Jenny Butler and she may know. Her e-mail is: butlers@butlers.cx. I hope she can help. Also Lynne Coe is a Hunt family researcher. She lives in Australia. Her e-mail is: coelynne@hotmail.com

I would like to swap information. Perhaps I may have some info as my parents lived in Auckland aroung Karangahape Road/Auckland City during this period.
Also there were not very many Hunts from Samoa in Auckland at this time. Hopefully this will make it easier for my parents to remember.
Can you supply anymore information? Anymore names & dates? Osoga is a very common name within the Hunt family BUT of course pls supply more info.

Hi Ato, Im hoping we can share information regarding our lineage. What Ive found so far is:-

John Hale Hunt Snr married 1. Sumuane Seigafo Saivaaia 2. Saluamoa. John Snr and Sumuane had 1 son John Hale Hunt Jnr who married Manu Launiuvao and had 6 children (3 boys and 3 girls):- John, Antonio, Joseph, Telesia, Tuavao and Tu'i.
I descend from Joseph and you from Tuavao but we differ regarding John Hale Hunt Snr's first wife?

Hope to hear from you soon.
Take care & be safe.

Hi Ato, in Sydney now and my mother is right here as I read this email...thanx for the info - much appreciated!!! She has confirmed she is sister to Lusia. She lived in grey lynn during the 60s then moved south she has lost touch with Lusia. Also to mention Ivona who she calls Ivo & partner Ene last seen during the 60s. She has met all her fathers sisters when livin in Samoa, but recalls Tunu was living in Nofoalii?, so they never met.
Her siblings were bro Sa, Sis Kalala(d)hawaii Sis Lusia (asking her whereabouts), Sis Salome,
She does recall Ioana with children Mary,John and Steve who returned to Samoa with husband Mr Geoff Ben/Penn? to Tulaele
My mothers name is VAO - take care - Bernie
