Amy CROOKS married William BALDWIN on 1 Aug 1805, Butler Co. OH. I believe that Amy was the daughter of William CROOKS [1752-1836] & Amy MARTIN [1756-1818]. Other siblings supposedly are: Lavina, Sarah, Anna, Mary, Absolam, William, Margaret and Delilah. I believe that William CROOKS was the son of James CROOKS [b. ca 1708, IRE] and his wife Elizabeth (unknown) who immmigrated from Ireland and settled in Washington Co. PA between 1745-1750. Other children of James & Elizabeth are: Thomas, Richard, James, Mary & Sarah.

Do yopu have any information on the descendents of William CROOKS? I have a brick wall with my CROOKS family from Washington County, PA. My William was born abt 1801 in PA and died in 1888 in OH.

Is that your William CROOKS who appears in the 1880 census in Meigs Co. OH? If so, he is not part of my CROOKS family of Wasington Co. PA. It was noted in that census record that William's father's birthplace was Maryland. My family first came to this country from Ireland sometime between 1745-1750 and first settled in Pennsylvania. So I think that my family and your branch are two separate lines. Have you found anything in Maryland that might be of help to you? I know that there were some other CROOKS families in Washington Co. PA circa 1800 when your William was born - but I really don't know anything about them. The only member of my family who was still living in Washington Co. PA at about that time was Thomas CROOKS who appears in the 1800 census there and then his son Richard who appears in the 1810 & 1820 census there. But neither of them are the progenitor of your William. Sorry that I can't be more help. Good Luck!
