I have also hit a dead end on James Currie who married Charlotte Hogle. Same area, about the same time, around 1800. Brothers?

Hi Richard - I am researching Currie's and don't know if we are connected or not. My GGrandfather was John Currie who married Mary Jane Brooks. His brothers and sisters that I have are:
Donald Currie - Sarah Mattix
Margaret Currie - James MacLellan
Robert Currie - Matilda Ann Crossman
Donald Currie -Annie Mac Lellan/Lennan
Mary Currie - Ebenezer Crossman
GGGrandfather was John Currie (died Apr 18, 1884 at age 82) married Jennie/Janet Forbes (died Mar 20, 1884 age 84) in 1826.

Does any of this ring a bell?

Sure would be great if it did!!!!

Hope to hear from you soon - Jo Ann (Joey)

I am research the Currie from Port aux Basque, NF. I know that my g grandfather came from just outside of Port aux Basque, NF in the 1850's. He did however have relitives in Nova Scotia, Sydney area. I do not know about PEI but it is possible.

The only information I have on James T Currie is that he married Charlotte Hogel at the Church of England on 28 Nov 1822 in St. Armand West and that both James an Charlotte are listed from St. Armand West. If they were born there is another question. This is the brick wall. No other information.

I know this is a long shot since it's been so long but my family is descended from Ebeneezer Crosman/ Mary C. Currie. I've hit a dead end when it comes to John Currie's (Mary's father's) parents. I have Janet (Jenny) Forbes parents down as Donald Forbes and Janet Murphy but I have next to no information on them other than they were born in Scotland. Any help?

Hi Cousin - not such a long shot after all !!!Have been working on the Currie family off and on for the last 30 years. My great grandfather was John Currie/Mary Jane Brooks. John was the brother of Mary Currie/Ebenezer. Who are you descended from??? My grandmother was Mary Jeanette Currie/William Ambrose Hern. Would love to share what I have and would be interested in adding anything you might have. Excited and looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi JoAnn! I'm happy to hear from you!

I am descended from Mary C. Currie (1834-1908) /Ebeneezer Crosman (1832-1912) . They had a son named Martin Luther Crosman. Martin Luther married Charlotte A. Brooks (1862-1938). Martin (I guess he went by Luther) and Charlotte had George Percy Crosman and I believe 4 other children. George Percy married Georgie M MacGregor and they had Lawrence Crosman, my grandfather.

I would love to hear any information you have on John Currie Sr. (1802-1884) and Janet Forbes. Also her parents, Donald Forbes and Janet Murphy and anything beyond that! Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi Jackie - great to hear from you so soon !!! Looks like your 4G grandparents and my 2G grandparents are the same - John Currie and Janet (Jennie) Forbes which makes us third cousins 2x removed --- far stretch but cousins none the less which is exciting. I don't have as much info on John/Janet as I would like but will send you my whole Currie file for you to use what you need. Would you be willing to share what you have found on the Currie's. Send me your e-mail address and I'll send it to you. Are you in PEI??
