DOMAN FAMILY PA/VA/WV

I am researching our family tree and have traced it back to Johan Jacob Doman(Dommen) from Lancaster, PA. It is said that when his sons moved to VA(Now WV) they changed the spelling from Dommen to Doman. The Doman family was orginally from the State of Hesse in Germany. They first came to this country as Hession soldiers.
I do not know Johans parents names, his wifes name or how he came to be in Lancaster.
I do know that part of the family left PA/WV and settled in MO and a few went to Idaho and Utah.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Glad to read your message. My Joseph Doman (b. 1795) was in VA by 1826. His son Jacob was md in IL in 1864 and later moved to MO by 1871. Joseph also had a son John among his 11 children. John--Johan? Any connection?

Johan Jacob Doman was born about 1729 in VA. He married Susanna about 1753 in Hampshire County,VA(now WV). As far as I can tell they only had one child whose name is also Johan Jacob Doman. He was born 1754 in Lancaster County, PA and died May 15, 1815 in Hampshire County, VA. He married either Mary, Margaret or Mary Margaret. They had 10 children: Sarah, John, William Foot, Anna, Jacob Jr., Margaret, Mary, Catherine, Rachel and Joseph. Joseph was born 8-25-1795 in Hampshire County and died 6-26-1881 Ryson Station, PA. I have found several sources for this information and I have a relative who has done much more research then I and his info matches mine. Maybe we can exhange infor if this is the right family. I could go on as you go thru the tree the domans went to mo, il, ut, pa, wv. Let me know what you think.

I have just found this website and am thrilled to find so much info. My husband's great grandfather was John W. Doman. He came to Missouri as a teenager with his family sometime between 1850 and 1860. They came from Hampshire County, Virginia, now West Virginia. His father was Elijah Doman, his mother was Martha J Doman. I have not been able to find out anything else about Elijah or Martha. John married Darthulah Bates in 8-1862. They migrated to Kansas and settled in Lane. They are both in the Lane cemetary. Elijah and Martha had 5 children that I know of these are their ages as of the Missouri 1860 census, John 19, Catherine 17, Albert 14, Solomon 8, and Francis 4.

If anyone has any more information on any of these people, please let me know.
