My mother has an ancestor, Adam Heeg, who married a Virginia Badendistle in Baden Baden Germany. They immigrated to US around 1880 or 90 to Kentucky or Cincinatti Ohio area. Information further back is sketchy.

I have an Adam Heeg mar Victoria Brandiste(?) from Baden, came to U.S. 1872. They had several children. This info has been given to me from someone else I haven't yet verified it. It could be the same family.

Sue,
Info I have shows 1900 census w/ parents Adam Victoria, children Adam 1880; Cecelia 1885; Katherine 1887; Alexander 1891; Joseph 1894; living in Cincy. If this is your family , Charles was probably on his own already. I'm waiting for copies of docs to verify names spellings. My gr gr grandparents were living with the Heeg family (gr gr grandmother was Magdalena 1877). I just learned of the Heegs last week, so I don't have any docs yet.I hope this helps some.

Rhonda,
It is very possible we are talking about the same family. My gr grandfather, Henry Charles Heeg, was born in 1875, married Mary Strawbridge who was born @ 1877. My grandfather - Charles A. Heeg, was born in 1894. Charles- according to my mother (Marie Antoinnette Heeg) was the oldest of 9 children. The only name she recalls of his siblings is Alma, who still lives in the Cincy area. I do not know her current last name. Let's keep in touch. My sister-in-law has all of the documentation. I will check with her as soon as I can to find out what she has to help verify the Virginia vs Victoria. There are too many other similarities for this to NOT be the same person! My mom was just saying that it was sad she lost touch of all her cousins! I told her it would be exciting if we were finding them at last!

Sue,
That would be great! I got the info I have from a Wassman cousin. Magdalena Heeg married Frank Wassman. I would appreciate anything you your mom can share.

Rhonda - I was able to pick my mom's memory a bit for more info - first of all - I gave you the name Alma - scratch that - she was my maternal grandmother's cousin who just died - Now the new info I was able to get ( mom's memory is going fast, sadly)
These are some of my Grandpa Heeg's siblings - Charles - my grandfather - the oldest of 9
- Edna - the oldest sister
- Dolores - the youngest sister
- Joseph - the youngest married Florence ??
- Richard (Dick) lived in Erie PA as well as maybe one or two other sibs (mom remembers a cousin called "Bussy" that she thinks is Dick's son)
- many of Charle's sibs were sheetmetal workers in Cincy
- one of the sisters married someone with the last name Smart

I hope this little bit helps. I found several other bulletin boards like this one - check those out too. On one of those, I remember seeing the "Smart" name. I'm going to check those out again too. Good luck,
Sue

Sue,
Sounds like your grandpa Charles and my gr grandmother Edna were cousins. Perhaps we can do our correspondence via email. Mine is rhonil57@hotmail.com. Let me know what you find out with your "picking". Are there any cousins named Muriel or Pam? I have those names as cousins of Edna. Be in touch.
