Need help in finding a new printer for my family research

Hope this is OK to post this here, but I need some input. I've had two HP Photosmart printers and was very satisfied with both. The last one died & I replaced it with a newer Photosmart 7520. I print photos for my genealogy family and I'm not liking the ones that this one is producing. Costco will take it back-no questions asked. Looking at a Canon Pixma MX922, Epsom Workforce 3540 or one of the HP Officejet printers. Wanting to stay under $175. Any suggestions? I do print a lot of text type printing-like census and such-but most all printers would that. Just want a good quality photo 4x6, 5x7 & 8x10's.

I never had any luck with any all in one printer regardless of who made them.
We have a 1220c color deskjet and We can print up to 11x17 and work very well. We have 1606 LaserJet to do our general BW printing.
They are both worth the money.

I know you will not find a 1220c, but I think you will get better results with this type vs and all in one. We also run small Canon scanners on our machines.

I have an Epson Stylus CX 7800 that has been excellent. It is an older model, think I have had it since 2005 but it's still running great, no problems except that it was advertised to print from negatives or slides and I found they were not good at all, but regular printing from your computer or a scanned photo has been great.

Just a little update, I have an excellent Canon CanoScan 8800 scanner that I love. It is so easy to take with me on trips because of it's size. It just seems like it is hard to find just a printer anymore. The HP Photosmart 7520 I recently got from Costco does not have 'Print Preview' in preferences. I have found there a number of the newer ones that do not. I have no problem with the Photosmart photos and the ink is good. I wait for a few more replys before I decide if I want to exchange the Photosmart. Thanks for your input.
