Mr. Merz,
Could you please translate your previous reply? My ancestor was Johann Philipp MAHR of Buckingham Co., VA. who was a Hessian soldier that stayed in America. I am searching for other MAHR researchers.
Also, do you have a current email for a Carolyn Mack also a decendant. Thank you.

Hello Leah Chance!
In respect to your posting of 7 May 2005 asking for a translation of a previous board message and a new
contact adress for Mack descendants, I would recommend
to search the mail list archives of the Rootsweb mail list
http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl
and when the page comes up enter amrev-hessians
That's the name of the mail list, and you will be surprised
what a wealth of information will be at your finger tips.
The name MAHR has been discussed in almost every year,
as well as the names of thousands of other Hessian soldiers
who made that fatefull decision to remain in America after
the Revolution was over. Just to get a general overview,
click on http://archiver.rootsweb.com/AMREV-HESSIANS-L
and you are really back in history class.
Trusting that this will help you (and other readers)

I am respectfully yours
John Helmut Merz
(My research material rests with the S.A.R. Library in
Louisville, Kentucky)

Hello,
I noticed that you have posted several responses to people asking about different families in Dudenhofen!

I too am researching the MAHR family of Dudenhofen but do not have any information other than my husband's immigrant ancestor named Anna MAHR b. 15 Aug 1844 in Dudenhofen.

The location of birth obtained by Hamburg emigration list Jun 1869 - she left with husband-to-be Wilhelm WETTEROTH of Babenhausen; birth date from St. Louis MO death certificate.

Do you know if the book by Albert Kaemmerer is still available and if so, how does one obtain it?

Kind regards,
Kim Curlin Wettroth
