Jacqueline,

Sorry, cannot help with the names, but the place is Aston juxta Birmingham (i.e. "next to" or near). It's now well built up as part of Birmingham itself.

Hello Edward
Thankyou for replying to my query.
I have since found out the maiden name of my 3x g.grandmother from daughters birth certificate, but as no
fathers names were required on marr.certs.until 1837, I don't
think I'll find the name of husbands father.

Jacqueline.

Happy New Year, Jacqueline.

Maybe 2005 will be the year in which you will break through your brick wall!

If you are in the UK, it seems to me that you will have to try to check the parish registers for clues as to Richard's father. You can try following back through entries for clues (I cannot lay my hands on my list, so don't know whether the Aston registers have been printed). Of course, marriages usually took place in the bride's parish, so Richard may have been born outside Aston.

(For example, the christening of a Richard Sanders 15 January 1805 at St Martin's, Birmingham, would be a such a possibility -- son of John & Ann. Estimate age range at marriage to give birth date, and look in parishes adjoining Aston such as Birmingham itself. A problem is the large local population in the Birmingham region, and there is no guarantee that Richard was born locally.)

Good hunting.
Edward

Edward.
Oh how I wish that some of my ancestors did'nt keep
changing there place of birth every 10yrs.
Mary stuck to Dudley Worcs( have managed to go quite a
way back with her family and all were born in Dudley) but
can't understand why she would marry in Birmingham.

Richard gives Dudley and Kent as his birthplace.
I have posted to the Kent sites, but so far had no luck,
hoping 2005 will bring better results.
