The 1830 U.S. Census for Simpson county has a number of households with "Indian Nation" in the remarks column [per the ftp file in the archives]. Most of the names also appear on the 1830 Choctaw (Armstrong) Roll. Can anyone tell me why these households are included on the Simpson county census and where the area was located? Thank you.

In the 1830 List my great-great grandfather Needham Horne was on the Census. On the Last Page.Near the Indian Nations. The Indian Territory Went from Across the State Line into La. to the East into Ala. South across the state Lining up with southern Copiah County Border. North around the Kemper co. Border Across the State.General Mushalatubee was the Chief Of the Choctaw Indian Tribe.the Title General came from Service in the War of 1812 against the English . In graditude For this in 1830 President Jackson had the Chiefs come together for the Treaty of Dancing Rabbit Creek. He took their Land and sent them to Oklahoma. 28,000 Choctaw Indians were Herded to Oklahoma. A little over 8,000 made it. 60% died from Starvation,Diease, and exhuastion. Some Exscaped and sneaked back to the state.

Dear Maggie, and this is foryou, and any one else. I tried this on MSN, and could not get it, but on AOL, you can access it, and its all free, and a lot of info.
Put in your tool bar------Native American Genealoy--when it come up, scroll to the 3rd one. Hit it. From there, ancestry will pop up, X it out---then you willsee a bunch of states hit whatever your after, then type in name, i found just the last names do better cause they will give first names anyway----it gives, all states , final rolls for the Choctaw, Cherokee, Creek, ect all 5 civilized tribes------------GREAT SITE
Hope this will help
