Our Fabels came from the community of Petterweiler
in Darmstadt Hesse in about 1850 to Philadelphia,PA.
They went to Carver County, MN in about 1855.
The mother was Eliza ( Elizabeth), the boys Henry
and Philip. Fathers name unknown. Philip lived in St Paul,
Henry fought in the Civil War and lived the remainder of his life
in Carver County. Any information about Fabels in
Petterweil, Darmstadt Hesse or Philadelphia appreciated.

We have a 1883 Victorian home in St. Paul. I am doing genealogy research on the family who built it. The builder's daughter, Louise Krech, married Philip Fabel in 1860. They had three children, Philip, Jr., Henry and George. I am trying to bring the Fabel tree current to today. Any information you may have to share would be appreciated.

E-mail me privately and I will send you the .rtf file that I received from the archives in Petterweil, Germany where the Fabels came from. This has all of the family back to 1740.
In modern history, we are descended from Henry Fabel
(Philipps younger brother)and I have not researched Philipp's family. Both Philip and his father Conrad were shoemakers and continued in that trade after they came to St. Paul.

Oddly enough, I was stationed in Darmstat 1977-1979 without knowing there were other Fabels there. I had been told my famliy origins were German, but near the French border
