I too, am researching Godinet's - my grandmother who I never met was Salote Godinet (Parents were Nive and Masoe) who lived in Safotu, Western Samoa, married to Levao Vaeluaga Mata'afa. Any information on her or her ancestors would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know if this information is helpful, but I was wondering if there is a connection - my father's mother- my grandmother- Saupo Godinet Time of Sapapali'i, Western Samoa passed away and is buried in Saleimoa, Western Samoa next to my grandfather, Time Moenoa Time.

My mother's father is Toilolo Masoe who lived and is buried in Lepea, Western Samoa. If you can help me clear this up that would be much appreciated. Hope to hear from you soon.

Sincerely,
Nani

Ma'am,

My grt grt grandparents were Joseph and Maria Godinet. They had a daughter called Fuatai from whom my geneline begins. I don't know anything else as far as brothers and sisters for Fuatai. I would very much like some more information please. My cousins and I are desperately seeking out our family roots. I am looking forward - and excited - to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
Nani Moenoa

Hi there, I'm also a Godinet residing in Samoa. My mother is Elisapeta Godinet. Her grandparents were Joseph Godinet and Telesia Iuli. Joseph is one of Joseph Godinet Snr son and Malia Tuailemafua of Safune. My mothers father is Pasio Godinet who is the son of Joseph and Telesia, and he married Apolo Fonotoe from Luatuanuu. We had a reunion in Samoa a couple of years ago..in 2000 I think..Joseph & Malia had seven children. I did a search at the births and deaths regitry for any birth certificate of my great grandparents and even my grandfather who is a Godinet, but no luck..I even searched the net day and night but still no luck..I would like to get more info on my great grandparents or grt grt grt grandparents if you have some info plse. Keep in touch, Nele

Hi,my name is Victor Louis Godinet( I prefer to be called Vic) My father was Victor Louis Godinet senior. He was born in Apia Western Samoa in 1927 approx. His father was Frank Godinet and his mother Henrietta ( I don't recall her surname). They had 7 children-- Bertyl,Charles,Victor ( my dad),Joyful,Margie,Cynthia and Wynona.I think all but Cynthia immigrated to New Zealand and raised families. They come from the village of Tufuiopa in Western Samoa. We were always told that Godinet is a french name amd that our ancestory on our grandfathers side was French .However I have read posts on other websites stating that it is a German name.---- My knowledge of the Godinet family history is extremely limited .Up until checking our surname out on the net I thought that our family was quite small and the Godinet name unusual.Clearly this is not the case.I would appreciate if you would be so kind as to send me any information you might have on the Godinet family ,or places that I could check out to help me ascertain my connection to my dads and my family. thanks Vic Godinet.

Hi Vic,

Thanks for your e-mail. Unfortunately, I was never able to find out much about the Godinet link in my family and found my original post in this forum for information raised more questions and no answers. Salote Godinet died when my father was very young so he has vague recollections only. His family then split up across the globe so information was contradictory, conflicting and unclear as to lineage on my grandmothers side. I truly hope you find your information and if anything develops in my Godinet searching (I always keep looking), I will certainly post it here.

Best Wishes, Vince....
