I don't show him specifically but I have MANY Marlins and several went to Indiana. Maybe we can find something that connects with another one of your Marlins.

Hi Janean,
Thanks for the reply. William's father was Charles Marlin, born in New Jersey in 1795 to Nathaniel Marlin. Charles and his brother moved to Indiania early in the 1800's. Is there any connection with your Marlins there?

Doesn't appear that I can tell. My Marlins didn't come over till 1831/35 and that was in Charleston S.C. and they lived in Chester Co. S.C.

There is a book "Faces Westward" that details much of that family. It is by Jennie Starks McKee. I know it is out of print. Most of the family stopped in Bartholomew County Indiana.

Do you know his parents? I have a large Marlin family that came out of Chester S.C. and some did go to Indiana. I have 4 William's but not yours. There was one born Mar 1837, wondering if yours is related.

Jan,
I read "Faces Westwrd" last year and enjoyed it. It had a good portion on the Marlin family but it didn't get as far as William.

Hi Janean,
William was the son of Charles Marlin, son of Nathaniel Marlin from New Jersey. He and his brother Nathaniel moved west in the early 1800's ending up in Indiana.

My paternal Great-Grandfather was William G. Marlin, a cousin to William B. He was born in Franklin county IN in 1852 and died in Scottsbluff Nebraska in 1922.
Willaim B Marlin enlisted in the 68th Indiana Infantry in August 1862. The regiment was captured by the Confederates at Munfordville KY in September. They were paroled and sent home and stayed there until December. By that time William had joined the Regular Army and was assigned to the 2d Battalion 11th US Infantry.
I have been trying to find out where he lived after the war and where he is buried. Do you have anything on him?
