Clues in Old Photos - Lawrenson, Thorpe, Lesteberg

Surnames: Lawrenson, Lesteberg
I'm new to geneology and rely on family photo albums for many clues. From what I've gathered in researching some of the names, my grandfather, Ole O. Rindahl, was interested in politics and the church. He saved a letter received from Andrew Volstead (introducing his candidacy for Congress), and one from PA Gandrud in the MN State House regarding a bill that was defeated - "Stone" bill or "store" bill? 1903. Little clues about others I've researched suggest Ole was very interested in the Temperence movement. Others, I have no idea. "Mrs. Lawrenson"? "Carolyn Lesteberg"? Another young woman, ca. 1900 or so, taken at a studio in Springfield, Ohio (a seminary connection?) If these names are familiar, I would like to hear about them. I would also like to hear if anyone has letters or other information that relate to the Temperence movement, Willmar Seminary and Norway Lake, or the churches in Norway Lake. Thank you.

I am in Willmar, Minnesota, for a few weeks and checked on the name Rindahl for you; here is what I found:

The Willmar library index to Kandiyohi County cemeteries:

West Norway Lake Lutheran Church Cem. (Hope), Norway Lake Township, Kandiyohi County:

Rindahl:

Arlene D. 3/6/1933-4/12/1959
Annie B. 1878-1924
Martin O. 1870-1933
Oliver M. 11/9/1901-3/1/1944
Arthur 1917-1918
Baby 1915-1915
Ole 9/13/1864-1/25/1916
Bertha Odland 5/22/1884-8/12/1942
There is also an Oliver M. 1902-1944--probably just a problem with the birth date being hard to read or listed differently in another source when they were making the index.

***********

East Norway Lake Lutheran Church Cemetery:

Bessie H. 1917-
James W. 1909-1962

*************

unmarked Ellen Olson--possible burial in county but cemetery cannot be verified

The Illustrated Historical and Descriptive and Biographical Review of Kandiyohi County, Minnesota, book published by Victor E. Lawson and J. Emil Nelson, St. Paul, The Pioneer Press Manufacturing Departments 1905 is in the library. They have one copy at the information desk where you can copy pages from a book that has loose pages; another whole book in the genealogy room for research.

The name index for that book has the following:

Rindahl, John pages 117, 340, 341

Ringdahl:
Martha O. 340
Martin 336
Martin O. 340
O. O. 85, 87
Ole 336, 339, 340

Temperance Movement: pages 50, 59, 71, 72, 74, 75, 76, 77, 404

Willmar Seminary (under City of Willmar--Schools): pages 408 and 409

The pages in this book are about 1' wide by about 1 1/2' long.

I am uncomfortable with posting personal information about living people without their permission. But I thank you for your time and effort - lots of gracious, generous people have added to the knowledge of our family.

Thank you.

My great-grandmother was Hvill (or Viel) Lesteberg Skindelien. She had an unmarried sister named Carolyn Lesterberg, and another sister Maria Ringnes. They lived in the Norway Lake area of Kandiyohi County. The researcher from Heritage Seekers is partly right that Norway Lake is a township. Many years ago, it was also a settlement that extended not only to several townships but even to several counties. I am very interested in the photo of Carolyn. Do you have any other Lesteberg photos?

This is a marvelous wealth of information, and I am only beginning or organize. I came across the post again, searching on "Torkel Leite". Mrs. attended funeral for Ellen Rindahl, according to above post.

I am curious about Torkel Leite because I encountered a death record for Ervin Chester Leite which lists mother's maiden name as Roen. Ervin Chester Leite was born 4/14/1910, died 11/28/1965. If he is the Irvin, living with Torkel/Mary, it is a family I am unfamiliar with. Perhaps Mary is the Maria who was listed daughter of Narve Raaen/Roen in 1880 census? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I came across this post as I was browsing the Rindahl surname. My husband's grandmother is Bessie Huseby, she was married to James Rindahl. My in-laws are members of the East Norway Lake church. I could see if I could get some info. from them about the family and church if anyone is interested.
