JAMES PLIVA worked in Drumheller mines

I am researching the history of my PLIVA family. My g-uncle James PLIVA was born Feb 1876 in Czechoslovakia. His occupation listed on his 1918 U.S.A. WWI registration card is a driver for Drumheller Coal. I found him listed on the 1931 Canadian Naturalization Records in Midlandvale, Alberta, along with his wife, Barbara PLIVA and Agnes PLIVA, minor child. Apparently he was still living in that area 1932 - 1935 when his children were born. A son, Robert Angus PLIVA, died in 1939. This is the last record I have of this family. Does anyone know how I can get further information from Canada (I live in the U.S)? I would appreciate any help with history of this family. Thank you.

The Master Surname Index (not online) (mostly burials in Alberta cemeteries) of the Alberta Genealogical Society lists these names;

James PLIVA, 1867 - 28 Dec 1946.
Barbara PLIVA, 1877 - 10 Sep 1952.
Edward PLIVA, 26 May 1905 - 6 Oct 1980.
Clara PLIVA, Sep 1910 - 27 Aug 1924 d/o James.
Jerry PLIVA, Nov 1914 - 27 Aug 1924 s/o James.
Robert Angus PLIVA, 26 Aug 1934 - 16 Jan 1939 s/o James.
James PLIVA, - 2 Jun 1994.
Peggy PLIVA, 18 Dec 1907 - 24 Mar 1984.
All buried in the Drumheller Cemetery.

Then there is mention of Gail (Peterson) PLIVA and Mrs PLIVA in the local history book "Munson & District".

You can order death papers, however when ordering this you are given 2 options - the Certificate,
or a "Certified Photographic Print of the Registration of Death" which usually gives more information than that fancy Certificate.

Peter,
Thank you so much for your response and thank you for all the information. It truly adds much to my genealogy.
How can I obtain a copy of the local history book "Munson & District"? Or at least get copies of the pages concerning the PLIVA families?
Does your association have a magazine you publish? How might I join the Alberta Genealogical Society?
These dates will help me so much in getting death certificates, etc.
Thanks again.
Norma Gayle

My grandfather is James Pliva of Drumheller, Alberta, Canada. He was born in Prague Oklahoma. He was the son of James Vincent Pliva and Barbara Appl. I am interested in finding any information on the Pliva family.
