I just looked at your web site. I am a descendant of Jane Bennett who married a Handley. She had a son named Henry Harrison Handley who married Philanda confer. Henry is my GGGrandfather. Jane, Henry, and Philanda are buried in Clinton Co. (on the Clearfield Co. border). Do you have any Jane Bennett in your tree? I'm sorry, but I do not know her parent's names.

I may or may not be related. My grandfather is
Name: George Henry Lougee born: 1911-10-01 in Revere Beach,,Massachusetts,USA Death:1957-04-18 in Milford,,Connecticut,USA married Myrtle Estilla Robinson

I sadly know nothing of my family line in that direction, although I can trace his Wife's line back a very long way, and I know her immediate family was from Maine.

Any chance you have any family information about James Bennett, Sr. as a child - in other words, his parents and, more importantly to me, his siblings?

Greg,

No, that is as far back as we have been able to go with proof. We have no parents or siblings for him. It's like they were pushed out of a UFO into Allegheny and Westmoreland County, PA sometime in the early 1800's.

The Charles Lougee that married Susanna Bennett was born in Maine circa 1823, and apparently left another wife and children up in that part of the US prior to marrying Susanna. If you can trace back a little further, you might find a connection.

I've done DNA testing - see my web site www.gregbennette.com/DNA. If you, too, have done DNA testing, you might find a match (or not). My DNA matched with a fellow named Shepherd - 6 generations to our MRCA (Most Recent Common Ancestor). That gives me reason to believe my Bennett line has a Shepherd in it somewhere in the 1765 - 1790 date range as my farthest back Bennett ancestor was Thomas who said he was born about 1811 in England (1850 census of Grandview, IA).
Your UFO theory sure would account for some of my ancestors...
Best wishes,
Greg Bennette
