Hawkins County Cemetery books
Are there any cemetery books, especially for the Rogersville area?

Re: Hawkins County Cemetery books
Yes, three cemetery books are in print. Most of the cemeteries in Hawkins Co. have been catalogued or at least all that have been found of this date. What cemeteries are you interested in and what surnames? Thank you.

Looking for surnames: MERCER and CIPHERs, Cifers, Cyphers or any other spelling of the Cipher name.
Don't know the name of the cemeteries.

I have been searching for Emerson Smith. I believe that he died in Hawkins county. I have no proof at this time. I have been searching for this family for several months now and have gotten no where so I thought I would try to find someone to look at the cemetary books and see if they might be able to find anything there. Thanks in advance for anything you might be able to find.

Could you do a lookup for my husband's family. We're trying to track down LOUDYs/LOWDYs in Hawkins County. I understand there are several buried in Cheeck's (or is it Creech's?) Chapel Cemetery in Hawkins County. We would be interested in Lowdys/Loudys who died before 1930.
Our one Loudy is Minnie Loudy Hurley (1889-1930), who was from somewhere in TN, but raised her family with husband Silas in Scott County, Va. They did eventually move to Kingsport. What we don't know is if Kingsport was where she grew up. She won't be in your books - she's buried outside Gate City with Silas.

I need a look-up of two ancestors: Orville Brandon (sometimes spelled Brannon), died about 1865, and Julia Ann Henderlight David Brandon/Brannon, Helton. Julia died between 1880 and 1897. She was found in the 1890 Hawkins Co census and she wasn't mentioned as living in her 3rd husband's pension application.
Thanks!

Re: Hawkins County Cemetery books
Not positive of some of the names but I think I'm looking for a Christopher or Lars Ciphers (spelled many ways)and his wife, Catharine Victoria (?) Ciphers. Both deceased after 1860.
Also looking for Rufus Enoch Mercer and Elizabeth "Betty" (Holt/Heldt) Mercer. Don't have a death date for either, but they were born in 1815 & 1817.
