My ggrandfather Is Harry Henry Lampkin (1878-1949) from Utica, NY. From what I am told "Lampkin" is his stepfathers name, which he aquired when his mother remarried. I think his real last name is Bremen or Miller.

In the 1920 Hudson Co., NJ census he is listed as Harry LAPKIN, which I'm sure is just a spelling mistake.

But, you never know.

Surnames: Maltinsky Malton Maltin
Hello to John, who sent a post March 11 this year.

I have a Maltinsky ancestor, Morris Maltinsky, commonly called Mike, who died 11/30/1941. He presumably came from Russia, from exactly where and when I do not yet know. He settled in Brookyn, where he died at the age of 70. His children took on the name Malton and/or Maltin.

Is any of this useful to you, and, if so, would you care to swap information (what little I have at the moment)?

Regards to you and others on this board.

Maria

Surnames: Maltinsky, Luban, Goldberg, Galbraich
I am interested in the Maltinsky family from Rezekne, Russia (now Latvia). A relative of mine, Henry Luban, married a Menucha (aka Esther) Galbraich (Goldberg). One of Menucha's sisters, Sarah Goldberg, married a man named Meyer Maltinsky (b. 1882, d. 1939?). Interesting, Sarah and Menucha's mother was Hanna Sheina Maltinsky and Hanna's father was Ely Maltinsky. I don't know the relationship between Ely Maltinsky and Meyer. Nor do I know where, if at all, your Morris Maltinsky fits in.

Greetings: I think we're definitely on to something.

Meyer Maltinsky was the younger brother of Morris Maltinsky, my great grandfather, so there seems to be a relation, via marriage, here!

I'm posting the URL of a family tree by Bob Kornspan, who is also connected to us via Meyer and Sadie -- as you can see, he's done a lot of research, and we've been working together for a while. His link to you would be more direct.

Here's the URL: http://www.kornspan.com/goldberg_genealogy/goldberg.html

There's a Maltinsky tab here, also, for your perusal.

Tentatively: Ely Maltinsky looks to have been son of one Zolman Maltinsky, who I estimate would have been born around 1794. Ely's brother would have been Chaim Maltinsky, who was the father of Morris and Meyer. So, if this is true, then Ely and Morris, Meyer and their brothers and sisters would have been cousins.

Looking forward to continuing the communication,

Maria

Thank you very much for the information. I am always excited to find new family connections, no matter how distant. I recently have talked to or corresponded with some of Henry Luban and Esther/Menucha's family--their daughter Belle who is 101 and still sharp as can be and David Luban, a grandson of Henry and Esther's. I had noticed the "Minnie Galbraich" married to an unknown Luban some time ago, but was never able to make the connection until Belle's daughter told me Esther's Hebrew name was Menucha (matching a vague memory my mother has of a Menucha), matched Menucha with "Minnie" and then David Luban told me that Esther's maiden name had been Galbraich (changed to Goldberg among those who moved to the US). One of Henry and Esther's daughters, like Belle also still alive, is named "Minette."

I went to the site you suggested and I wrote to tell them about Henry Luban his family so they can fill it in if they like.
