I am looking for information on my family who settled in the Boone and DeKalb county region before the turn of the century. Most of them are buried at the Flora Cemetery near Irene and Garden Prairie. Are the books on the cemetery still available? Does anyone have information on the Charles or David Gallarno or Galerno family, or the Wallace Miles Cline and Henry Miland Cline family? Please advise.

I have been told that some Gallarnos also went by the name of Gallano.
I have a gg-grandmother, Elizabeth Gallano, who was married to Joseph Wood. They lived in DeKalb County, IL., and are buried in Charter Oak Cem. in DeKalb County (just south of Boone County and east of Ogle County). Elizabeth was born about 1812 in Ontario, Canada, and died April 11, 1878. Joseph was born in 1804 in NJ, and died Sept. 22, 1880. They were married in Ontario. We are at a dead-end with tracking back on either one of them. Does Elizabeth connect in any way with your findings?

My direct relative was David Gallarno born 1807 in Canada. He had a brother named George Gallarno born 1827. Supposedly the family came from Canada in 1850s settling in Dekalb Co., IL. These are the only two who I have that were born in Canada but possibly brothers of Elizabeth. We had a relative whom I believe to be David's grandson James Gallarno who moved to California and changed his name to Gallano. I have seen it spelled Gallaraneau; Gano; Gallarneux; Gallarno; Gallano so far. I have another "cousin" I need to write to to find out more about the family, she supposedly went back to IL this summer to trace more family info. If I find Elizabeth connection I'll let you know more later. This family basically moved to Dekalb Co.,IL and died there so has to be some kind of connection. Keep in touch dar_carr@hotmail.com.
Good Luck,
Darleen

Could this Elizabeth Gallano be related to David Gallarno b. 1808 in Canada (married to Margaret D.) and moved to Franklin twp, Dekalb County? I have many pics of tombstones in Flora Cemetery, Flora twp, Boone Co, and some obits from this family I obtained from Joiner Room in Sycamore, IL, along with a partial family tree. A Charles and David Gallarno of this family tree owned land in Franklin twp, Dekalb County but names were listed as GALINO or GALLANO. Let me know if you want this info. janetpearson@earthlink.net

I have taken several photos of the Charles Gallarno clan (David and Margaret GALLARNO's son) along with obits. Even though they owned land in Franklin twp, DeKalb Co, they went to a Flora Church (have a pic of also) and are buried across the street in Flora Cemetery which is in Flora twp, Boone Co, just over the county line from Dekalb Co.

Let me know if you want this info. Never found David or Margaret Gallarno's grave..

If you ever get any information pertaining to the Gallano/Gallarno family that once resided in DeKalb county, please let me know. I am still searching for information on my grandmother's side of the ancestoral line. Thank you.
