Thanks to all who listed info on Stewart! He would have been my great great grandfather. Does anyone know who his parents were?
My grandfather was Joseph Roy Garvie, son of James W. Garvie.

My name is Terry Garvie, I am the grandson of James W. Garvie, a Santee Sioux Indian born in Niobrara, Nebraska. He was the son of James (Tatanka Kanina) Garvie and Anna Redwing. Tatanka Kanina was the son of Stewart Garvie - slain at the New Ulm Masacre in Minnesota. My grandfather James was raised in South Dakota, attended both the Genoa School and the Haskell School, before going to Carlisle Indian School where he graduated in 1914. He several brothers, among them, George and Roy Garvie.
Would love to hear from any and all relatives!!

My name is Stella and my g-grandparents were Joseph and Anna Wilson Redwing. I'm not too sure how we're related, but I'm working on it.
This summer we are having a Redwing reunion at Thunderhead Camp in the Black Hills on July 13. All are invited.

Here is how I would be related to Anna Redwing.
My grandfather was James W. Garvie, of the Santee Sioux.
His father (my great grandfather) was James Garve (aka Tatanka Kanina) James ( Tantaka Kanina) was married to Anna Redwing.
So, Anna Redwing would be my great grand mother on my grandfather's side.
Hope this clears things on this issue.

I am the grandson of James W Garvie and Winona Keith Garvie. Winona was James wife after Anna Redwing.

I'm not sure if this helps or not but if it does great well here goes my mother was the daughter of Velma Garvie and William Pond; Velma was the daughter of James Wilson Garvie (1/2 Sioux 1/2 Irish or Scott) and Winona Mary Keith; James is the son of Stewart Burns Garvie (died at Sioux massacre Minnesota) and Mary Enhiyayewin (Going Towards); Stewart B Garvie is the son of George D Garvie and Anna Mary Burns.
Winona Mary Garvie is daughter of Edgar Miles Keith of NY and Margret Goulet of KS; Edgar is the son of William R Keith (Seneca Falls,NY) and Sophia M Miles (same or Phelps NY); Margret Goulet is the daughter of Henry Goulet (Canada); Louisa Gerioux (Nebraska Territory) she was the daughter of Chief Wiyakaom (Feather Ear-Ring) Yankton Sioux
