Margaret, I am from the same family as you are. Your George Hannis (md Rebecca Ichter) was a son of Adam Hannis. Adam was brother to my gr grandfather James Polk Hannis. They were both sons of John Hannis. Contact me at kherndon@gte.net and I will be VERY happy to share information!

Hi Margaret,

I'm your cousin, even though we've never met. My dad was Harold Hannis, brother of your father Doug. My dad died of a heart attack on December 26, 1982. Harold (my dad) was married to my mom Pauline Hopkins and had four children. David Spencer Hannis was born June 29, 1940, Donald Frederick Hannis was born August 1, 1948, Deborah Ruth (Hannis) Hogenmiller was born July 31, 1956, and I (Dianne Sue (Hannis) Van Winkle was born June 29, 1942. My brother Donald passed away on April 29, 1983. He was married to Patsy Wiley and they had three children...James David Hannis was born November 21, 1970, Wendy (Hannis) Hampton was born in August of 1972, and Holly was born in September of 1974 (I think). They live in Kentucky since my brother Donald passed away.

My brother David has never married and resides in Detroit, Michigan. My sister Deborah married Alan Hogenmiller after she graduated from Evangel College in Springfield, Missouri. They have three sons...Nathan, Daniel and Jonathon and live in Finnsville, Michigan.

I was married to William Edward Van Winkle from 1962 until 1981. We divorced in 1981. We had three children...Linda Sue Van Winkle born August 1, 1963, Kathy Ann (Van Winkle) Knudsen born August 23, 1966, and James Allen Van Winkle born July 21, 1969. Kathy married Keith Knudsen in March of 2000, and had a Colin Christopher Knudsen on May 16, 2001. Linda lives in Monroe, Michigan, Kathy lives in Canton, MI, and James lives in Belleville, Michigan with his fiance and two daughters Gabrielle Jane and Miranda Nicole. Gabrielle is 4-1/2 years old and Miranda is 3 years old. His fiance is Laura Priester.

I live in Belleville, Michigan now but will be moving to Taylor, Michigan in January as I am getting married to Albert Donati on January 4, 2002.

I know that Delbert, Richard, Robert, and my dad have passed away, but is your dad still living? I haven't seen him since I was very young. My parents divorced when I was 17 and I really didn't see much of the Hannis family after that. I did attend my Grandpa's funeral in Pennsylvania, and knew of Grandma Hannis' death. I would love to catch up on all the news from the family.

Hoping to hear from you soon.

Your cousin,
Dianne

Hello Diane,
It's nice to hear from you. We probably met at Grandads funeral, but I was only 10 at the time. Yes my father is still alive, he is 66 years old and in relatively good health. Our Aunt Dorothy (Doey to all who loved her) died in April of this year. She needed a heart valve replacement for her very sick heart, and died in a risky surgery at a hospital in Washington D.C. Aunt Catty and Aunt Margie came from Michigan to her funeral. They have aged but still look very much the same. They and my father are all that are left of Robert and Ruth's children. I am the youngest of Doug's children. I am 35 years old, married, and the mother of four . I would love to keep in touch, if you like you can e-mail me at gpstrak@epix.net

I too am a descendant of John Hannis and would appreciate any information that you may have on the family.. I am a direct descendant of Mildred (my grandmother) daughter of Ruth and Robert. I understand that there was some rift in the family. Would love to know why.

Hi Diane

Mildred(my grandmother) was the sister of your dad Harold. She was known as Mickey to me. Her last name was Keeler. Do you know now who I am referring to.

Please get in touch.

I also knew your Grandmother as Mickey Keeler. I think her and Howard (your grandfather) have both passed away. Who was your father?? Bob, Buddy, Billy or Bruce??? Billy drowned when he was 24 years old and was married to Joan. Bob was married to Jan, and I believe Buddy was in the Navy. After my parents divorced, I lost contact with them. Do you know if my Aunt Marjorie and Aunt Catty are still living?? Hope you are still signed in to this Ancestry e-mail. I am living in Cheboygan, MI now with my husband Albert. We have been married for four years now.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Dianne
