Thanks, ELL in Spain(i luv Salamanca), appreciate the information. Unfortunately I cannot access Ancestry.com. My acct is a non-membership acct.

Death recs might have funeral home listed BUT NOT necessarily cemetery. Anyway I can't access them see above.

Does the Ancestry Tree disclose the BURIAL info or does Ancestry have an obit database ?

Sorry to be so difficult. Greatly appreciate the help !

cannot see anything on ANC. and the tree link (there are a couple) state :

In August of 2011, a family reunion was held in Hayward, Wisconsin. Over 100 families were invited. Donald Plante prepared a 197 page cookbook-biograph for many of the realatives both living and deceased. On pages 5 and 6 was information about HUGH THOMAS COTTON, Don's uncle and his mother's only brother. All 3 of Hugh's daughters were present at the reunion. Everyone that attended the party was given a commerative cookbook. Additional books were later sent to some realatives that had family members listed in the cookbook.

there are a couple of lovely photo's on there also.

It states married Fern Ann Weston 1935

he & Fern had 3 daughters Louis Ann 1936-1987, Colleen Edith 1938 & Ellen May 1945

My experince, in large urban areas, I understand that even posting of obits has declined. One reason that I heard about, setting aside the NOT inconsiderable cost in large urban daily newspapers, there is security. Some cities have had stories of burglars visiting family homes during funeral services. Grave side services I believe have increasingly become family-only affairs.

yes, its a great shame all round really the way things have/are going. We (England) do not/have not done obits - a few "higher class's" but very rare over here - lovely in the US tho for genealogy but....

Interesting observation about England (my last trip was many yrs ago as a student). Here seems to be largely a post-Civil War occurrence when newspapers became more widespread and frequent. Not sure what the 'genealogy but....' means. I can be reached at W G V H 2 [at] y a h o o (DOT) C O M
