I have quite a bit of census information (index) on Lilly/Lilley families in NC. Particularly interested in Lilly family in Wayne county, NC. Didn't originate there. But a Susan Harris married ? a Lilly, and reared a family of 3 children in Wayne County, NC (between 1830 and 1860). Know nothing about the Lilly connection, but would love any information and will be glad to share census index information I have.

Wow! Thank you so much for the information you posted on the NC Lilly family. I do not know into which of these families, if any, my ancestress Susan Harris married. But I do very much appreciate the information.

Glad to see someone post so much at one time. Most people put on a name, usually without dates. It is refreshing to see someone sharing.

I am the historian of the Church of God Founded by Jesus Christ, inc. Headquartered in Salisbury, North Carolina. I am doing research on our organizing bishop, William Henry Lilly.

He was born in Wadesboro (Anson County) North Carolina and moved to Salisbury in 1913 where he organized a church which now bears his names (Lilly's Chapel). His son Samuel moved to Harlem where he organized a church also called Lilly's Chapel.

I believe that the Lilly's that I am researching are relatives to the ones you are researching. Please contact me to share information

My own Lilly family was from New England.
For more than 25 years, I gathered all families of the surname. In the 1980's, I helped straighten out the WV Lillys. It was thru a will in northern France. All the Anson Co., NC, Lillys are descendants of one Edmund Fleming Lilly (1728-1815). His son Edmund was born in 1761, in Anson Co. This line has been misconstrued to the brother of Robert Lilly of WV. He was a cousin. The NC Lillys go back to France thru one John Lilly (1) of York Co., VA, in the 1600's.
He was bornabout 1603/04 in (Bavay, Flanders), France. This is all documented by wills in France. Just one researcher carried it on down to NC. No one else knew the line.
Edmund Fleming Lilly is the 5th. Gen. in America.
