Surnames: O'Brien, Bourke, Callan
Hi,

I am working on my mum's family tree and am trying to find some relatives of my O'Brien family. Annie (or Anne) O'Brien (1901-1968) is my great grandmother and was the daughter of John O'Brien (born abt 1878 in Portarlington, Laois) and Sarah Bourke (born abt 1876 in Leighlinbridge, Carlow).

John had a brother called Jim and also a sister called Mary.

Annie had a sister and brother-Patrick (born abt 1904) and Norah (born 1906 in Sallins, County Kildare)

Annie was born in Sallins, County Kildare but was living with her parents and siblings in Naas at the time of the 1911 Ireland census.

Annie married Patrick Callan (1881-1950), to who she had Nora (1926-2006), Vera, Sally, Sean and Marion (1934-2011).

Annie and her husband Patrick lived and grew up in Naas, County Kildare. Their children grew up on Sunny Hill Farm.

I would love to hear from any descendants of these families. I have a couple old photos of my family at Sunny Hill Farm and Kilcullen, as well as a photo of John O'Brien and Sarah Bourke. I would like to find out more about Annie's siblings Patrick and Norah and their families, as well as more about Annie's parents.

I hope to hear from anyone who can help, especially any distant cousins etc.

Thanks,

Martin

If you are looking for current families you could try
writing to the Callan's in the Kildare telephone book which is on line, there are 13 but only 3 in the Nass area.
There are over 200 O'Brien's but if you go through them
carefully you probably will find a few you could send letters to but leave that search to the end as there are only 9 Bourke's. Its worth a few stamps.
The posting about Callan has been answered. It is harder to find current family members than older ones.

You can use the 1901/11 Census for the addresses to compare to the phone book or a good map.

Nass, the civil registration district would cover an area of
12 miles from the town and contain as noted parish's, and villages and smaller towns.

Good luck.

Hi Annette,

Thanks for replying to my post. Would you know the website address for the Kildare telephone book online? I would like to write to some of the Callans in likely areas my family would be.

Cheers,

Martin

I'm not supposed to give out 'commercial websites' on rootsweb, here goes: www.eircomphonebook.ie

Good luck.
