Hello! I am in Florida but have several ancestors who were early settlers in the Centreville/Nottawa region of St Joseph County. One of my ancestors helped to form the Pioneer Cemetery and helped to inter the first body there. It is my understanding that many of my ancestors from that time are buried in the Pioneer Cemetery. I am wondering if the graves in the cemetery are still readable, and if so, is there anyone who would be willing to check out the Hazard/Hazzard names in the cemetery and record them for me? where is this located in centerville? is it in town? I also have relatives who are buried in centerville and would like the location so i can check it out for the name of Kline/Klein/Cline. could you help me please?

pioneer cemitary is about 1 block north of the main street
in the middle of town. it is about a small cemetary i turn at the court house
if you go further [about 3-4 blocks you reach the other newer cemetary near the river.most of my people are in the newer cemetary so i would ck out both of them if going to centerville

I replied to your other post on Luther Ellis. I got this information from the same source. Pioneer(Ketchum) Cemetery is not located in Centreville but in the country NE of town.The following are buried there:

I have been looking for the burial place for Sarah Salisbury who died 1850 or 1851. Could she be buried there? Could you look for her? She was the first wife of Solomon R. Salisbury. Thank you for any help you can give.

I am going to sturgis on wen and will ck the cemetery index's that are at the local library. there are several cemeterys in and around st. joseph county

I found a Soloman Salisbur buried in Lakeside Cemetery on Farrand Rd. in Colon, MI. He was born in 1805 and died in 1885. There is a Lousia Salisbury buried in the same plot. She was born in 1820 and died 1889. I did not find a Sarah Salisbury though. Am still looking through my cemetery books.

Also in the same plot with Soloman is Allen Salisbury b 1848 died 1913 and the family stone reads Salisbury/Dewitt. These are all in Lakeside Cemetery in Colon, Mi.

I just found a Sarah Salisbury in Fawn River Cemetery in Sturgis, MI. She is listed as 20 yrs. old and death date is 9-3-1864. Could this be the Sarah you are looking for?
