Am looking for origin of Loukota. Albert was born in Plsen in 1853 and emigrated to Chicago in 1875. He had one brother who was a priest in Paris. The family also had roots in Alsace-Lorraine. The name was change when he entered the country. LaCater or LaCote was possibly the French spelling . Thanks for any help

Our Loukota family in Chicago was Bohemian. Frank Loukota, born about 1863 probably had brothers and cousins in the area but we do not know of them. Do you have any knowledge of cousins at the time you are researching?

My great-grandfather, Albert (or Adalbert) Loukota was born in 1853. My records indicate that he was born in Ciste Kraz Plzen, Czech. He married Anna Bartasek. Most of my family records state that he was married on November 25, 1919 in Winner, South Dakota. However, I came across a notation that he was married in 1878 in Chicago. I'm checking with my uncle about this. Albert and Anna had the following children: James, George, Albert Jr. (my grandfather, who died in 1935), Lottie, and Jerry. I am in the process of inputting the family history into the Heritage Family Tree program, and would be happy to share with you what I have thus far. I would be most interested to know more from you as well. Thank you. Constance Wells

Albert Loukota was my Great-Grandfather also! His son, James Loukota, was my Dad's Father that passed away when he was young and my Dad was adopted by his Stepfather. I am searching for the whole Loukota side of my family that I never knew existed until recently when I learned he was adopted and realized I am a Loukota after all. Hope to hear something soon - although it seems as if it has been quite a while since the last post. Thanks!! Alicia
