Hi! I am also a decendant of Rufus Burleson. I actually attended Baylor University in the 60's. My grandfather was Charles Rudolph Burleson though I don't really know where he originated. My father was George Delbert Burleson born in Anson, TX 27 November 1915. I am interested in any information you can provide. Many have suggested that all the Burlesons came from two Welsh brothers who emigrated to the US. However, my family always told us that we were Irish. Both are certainly conceivable. Let me know is you have any information about my branch of the Burlesons. Thanks.

Do you happen to know which Burleson line you descend from? Joseph Burleson (1795-1878)was my ggggg-grandfather, and was an uncle of General Edward Burleson. General Burleson's father was James B. Burleson, Joseph was his brother. Their father was Aaron Burleson, Jr., who was married to Rachel Hendricks. I hope this makes sense. This is how my line looks, according to Ancestry:
James B. Burleson (1775 - 1836)
is your 6th great grand uncle
Aaron Burleson Jr (1722 - 1781)
Father of James B.
Joseph Burleson Sr (1770 - 1849)
Son of Aaron
John Burleson (1795 - 1878) Uncle of General Burleson, who Son of Joseph led Texas forces and was Vice President of the Republic of Texas, among other offices.
Abigail Burleson (1822 - 1891)
Daughter of John

My family is from the San Antonio area, with many relatives who fought in the Texas Revolution. I have been to the Alamo many times, but didn't know that the Burleson Bible enshrined there had anything to do with my family until recently.
