Looking for information on William Hinde, who was born on
August 11, 1791. William worked in the butchering business in Liverpool for over 20 years according to his obituary in the Dubuque Iowa paper when he died on Nov. 25, 1866.
He married Jane (maiden name not known). She was born on January 15, 1810.
They had a daughter named Martha who was born on July 5, 1844 in England. They also had 5 other children: Richard, Martha, Rachel, William, and Eliza.
This family later emigrated to Dubuque County, Iowa.
Am interested in the ancestors of both William and Jane, and information on where they lived. Information on the birthplace of Martha Hinde would be beneficial.
Thank you for any help or leads.

P.S. Martha Hinde married William Meyers in Dubuque County, Iowa, on Oct. 3. 1870. They are my great grandparents.

Thanks, David, for your information. My information is a short obit on William Hinde on his death 25 Nov. 1866. It stated that he was born 11 July 1791, and that he had been in the butchering business in the Liverpool area for some 20 years before he migrated to the USA, Iowa, Dubuque County. It is believed that he came to the USA in the early 1850's with his wife, who was named Jane ( ), and who was born 15 January 1810.
We do not have information on where either William Hinde, or Jane ( )Hinde was born.
Any and all leads and information sincerely appreciated.

My own HINDE family tree goes back from Manchester to Nottinghamshire(Most were bricklayers),but I came across a HINDE family with
LIVERPOOL/LANCASTER connections with links to Maritime
Shipping and the Slave Trade from both Lancaster & Liverpool.
Suggest You try Lancaster Maritime Museum. There is also a pottery business owner in Cornwall who had researched the Lancaster/Liverpool HINDE connection ,but I have not got detail.Sorry.Hope this helps.

Thank you so very much for that information, John. Now, if we can just find out what happened between the 12th century, and the 19th century, that would be great.
Someone somewhere knows where William Hinde was born, and who his parents were. I'll bet on it. Thanks again, John, your information has been added to my Hinde file.Ruth

Martha Hinde, daughter of William and Jane Hinde, was born on July 5, 1844, possibly in, or near, Ince, in Cheshire, if my information is correct. Are there birth records for this area that might give us information on William and Jane. Hoping this addditional posting will give someone a clue to pass along to me. Thanks Ruth Jenkins

William Hinde should be the name in the query, not
William Meyers. William Meyers married his daughter,
Martha. Sorry for the confusion. Ruth
