Also trying to locate passenger lists from this time on a boat called the 'Herder' left at Bremen, Germany.

Colleen, I know you posted your message a long time ago, but this Louis Honig is my ancestor. His daughter Auguste is my GG grandmother. I have a few bits of information if you want to contact me. JILL CUMMINS

Transcribed and submitted to TheShipsList by Robert Janmaat, Adelaide, from a variety of sources, cited below.
Return to German Emigrants to South Australia, 1837-1851

barque Herder, 460 tons, Captain J.F. von Hagen, from Bremen 5th June 1851, arrived at Port Adelaide, South Australia 21st September 1851

The Sydney Shipping Gazette October 4th 1851

Arrived at Adelaide.— September 21st, Harder [sic], from Bremen, 5th June, with 251 passengers, principally miners.

A further note about this list ... most of the detail for this list came from Internet sources. The newspaper list confirmed most arrivals but in a fashion that gave only "Karl Anger and family" (as an example). The newspaper list indicated four passengers in the Cabin ... Dr. Hammer, Mr Schnabel, Misses Mehrtens [Elise Catharine, born 8th June 1832 ; Bertha, born 20th April 1838 ; Lucia Johanna Louis, born 20th Feb. 1844 ... their mother and brother sailed on the Pauline 1849] and Miss Dehls [Johanna Dehls, the maiden Aunt of the Misses Mehrtens].

note.— There are very few surviving original lists of German passengers, so the data below has been compiled from a variety of sources, such as contemporary newspaper(s), internet sources, input from descendants and the South Australian Heraldry Genealogy society, (SAGHS).
I know the list is incomplete and may contain errors, so any feedback with additions or corrections, will be most appreciated. Please contact me using the link above. Regards Robert, Adelaide

note: where maiden name of wife is indicated, it has been included in the given name column within ( ) ; the passenger list comprises three sections arranged alphabetically, i families, ii single men & women, iii family links ; transcriber notes in italics
