desperately looking for information on a Ransom Kimbrel married first to Marcella Lafoy and then to Rachel Heflin. Marcella Lafoy Kimbrell is sister to Mary Lafoy married to James H. Genery. James H. Genery's brother William then married Susan/Nancy Heflin, sister to Rachel same year. We are trying to prove or disprove connection between a george listed on the 1880 census with james and mary p. genery with any of the helfins/kimbrells/generys. Susan did not continue to live with William after the war but lived with her sister and brother in law, Ransom, along with William's daughter Luncinda and son Robert L. Need to find these people as well. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The names sound much like ours...we are the descendents of the son(James Robert Kimbrell and Lucy Ann Pounds)of John Cloud Kimbrell Elizabeth Jennings of Edgefield District, SC. Both buried in Springhill Cemetery, Calhoun, MS. Lucy Ann was also known as Lucinda or Luceann, an educated, well-known scribe in her community. I am in contact with two distant cousins in MO and Al who have published much heritage on this family. Just not sure of the spellings Census Records proof yet. Let us know if this helps.

Am forwarding your EMail address to Alabama Cousin for you via SnailMail, as she does not correspond by EMail. Her photo used to be on a webpage but I don't have it saved in my favorite file now. I will send it later, if you like. It's under Kimball-the word is that the brothers changed the spelling of the Kimball name to keep the mail coming to the right families. The info comes from "Kimbriel Kith Kin" by Mrs. Jeff Wade of Kennett, MO. Ransom K. is found in the 1790 NC Census-Warren Cty. Halifax District-1810 Edgefield Cty, SC. Don't see your names yet. Inch by inch it's a cinch; yard by yard,'tis very hard...keep looking!

Hello JJ,
My ancestor Charles William Kimbrel was born 1795 in Burke Co. Ga. I am searching for his father who I believe was also Charles who may have been married to Ann Walker. There was a Walker Kimbrel and a Jeremiah Kimbrel who could have been brothers to young Charles. My Charles named his sons Jeremiah and Walker and William and Andrew Jackson Kimbrel.

Ann Walker's brother was Rev. Jeremiah Walker. Charles Kimbrel back to Charles Kimball of 1700 were all born in N.C. Charles and Ann may have found their way to Edgefield Co. SC prior to moving into Burke Co. Ga. Any and all help is appreciated.

Sounds Familiar

Referring you to two little ladies from AL MO who have published our lineage already. They say the families changed the various spellings of the Kimball name to be sure their mail didn't get mixed up back when. The Census records are our best sources, but the county courthouse records are tangible treasures we can hold in our hands. Hope you are reading all the EMail queries replies. Check out ancestry.com or Familyhistory.com if you haven't already. It's good you have a county in your facts...really saves time. Keep up the good work!

Look in the LDS Genealogy web pages or Cyndi's list-

Linda:

I believe that I am descended from Ranson Kimbrel through his son with Marcilla named William Albert. I found Ranson Kimbrel's tombstone in Genery Gap Cemetary in Jefferson County, Alabama near that of William Albert and searched for a family connection. I don't have a lot of information on Ranson Kimbrel, but would enjoy sharing information.

Send me information on the George that you are looking for. I have some information on individuals with the last name George and have a family connection between my Kimbrel line and the George family. I'll see if I can help.

I would love to get in contact with your AL cousins that have infor on this family.

I am descended from James William Kimbrell, who was the illegitimate son of John Kimbrell. Sarah Kimbrell Staples her husband, David, raised William after his mother abandoned him with them at birth. John Sarah are brother sister to Ransom (Ransom was even living with John in the 1850 census).
