House Family (African American)

Over the years I have done a research on the House family of which I am a part of. Many of the House family members do come out of Rowan County, however my great grandfather Joel House came out of Cabarrus County, N.C. He was a mulatto, a free person of color, working for the Faggart family, and may be connected with Jacob House of Mt. Pleasant. Yet, when I mention Joel House, not one African American House person ever writes to me or respond to me. Please tell me why. Was not Wiley House an AfricanAmerican? What about a person named Jacob Dry, or Andrew Reed? Please write to me if you are African American and related to the House family.

Hello Joseph,

I'm not a member of the House family, but my ancestors are from Cabarrus/Stanly county and include some Dry, Reed and Faggert families.

I see Joel House in the 1840, 1850 and 1860 Census - sounds like you have this info. Do you have any dates on Wiley House? I see a Willie House in 1830 for Wake County, NC but don't know if this is your guy.

Cathy
