I'm searching for my Great Grandmother"s Family. Her father was Charles Andouard, her mother was Adele Virginie Hate. I do not have birth dates for charles or Adele, but would assume based on Andree's birth date, that they were born in the 1860's or very early 1870's. Andree married James Means in Romorantin France on April 22, 1919. There may be a connection with the Surnames of Enguehard and Dassieu. If these names are familiar, please contact me. Regards, Jim

Hello Jim,

Firstly, if you haven't already done so, I'd suggest to ask for a complete copy of your great-grandmother marriage certificate from Romorantin Town Hall as well as for her birth certificate if she was born there, they will give you precious informations. You can request it on-line for free here: https://www.acte-etat-civil.fr/DemandeActe/PostLancementRech...

---> Here are the steps for the marriage certificate:

1) Check the "J'accepte les conditions générales d'utilisation du service" box then click on the 'Continuer' button

2) Then choose (birth/mariage/décès = naissance/marriage/décès):
. Copie intégrale d'acte de mariage
. Qualité du demandeur: son petit-fils ou sa petite-fille = his/her grandchild

Click on 'Continuer'

3) Fill in the informations about you and your great-grandparents:
. Identité du demandeur = Applicant's identity
Civilité / Nom / Prénom = Title / Name / First name

. Identité de la personne faisant l'objet de la demande = Identity of the individual subject of the request:
Vous-même = Yourself (don't check)
Nom / Prénom = Name / First name
Date de mariage = Marriage date : 22 Avril 1919

. Identité des parents = Parents identity (of the subject)
Mère = Mother - Père = Father

Click on 'Continuer'

4) Adresse de la réception de l'acte = Address where to send the certificate
-> Click on the 'Adresse à l'étranger' button and type in your complete address
. Téléphone / Courriel = Phone number / Email

Click on 'Continuer'

5) This is the last page. Check the data.
. Motif = Reason (of the request) You can choose 'Autre' and write "Recherches familiales" (Family research)
. Nombre d'exemplaires = Number of copies
. Contrôle anti-robot = Antibot check. Type the word in the box

If everything's all right, click on 'Valider et terminer' = Validate and send. To edit, click on 'Modifier'

You should receive your certificate(s) under 2/3 weeks, may be a little more because of summer holidays. ;)

Now, ANDOUARD & HATÉ surnames are not very common in France, as you can see on these maps (births in France between 1891 and 1990):

ANDOUARD: http://www.geopatronyme.com/cgi-bin/carte/nomcarte.cgi?nom=a...

HATÉ: http://www.geopatronyme.com/cgi-bin/carte/nomcarte.cgi?nom=H...

especially in the Loir-et-Cher departement (# 41). Click on the name departement on the right to see the corresponding town names where the birth where recorded. In fact, the only HATÉ births in Loir-et-Cher were in Romorantin, so it's logical to think all were related to your family.

The Loir-et-Cher Archives are not yet on-line but they are tentatively announced for this autumn. There is however a benevolent circle indexing the records, which has listed Romorantin marriages between 1792 and 1902: http://benevolat-ad41.fr/actesMaryse/index.php?xtyp=M&in...
but full access requires registering ('M'enregistrer' button) on their message boards first. It's free but they ask for your complete name & address or they won't accept your application and send you the password: http://www.benevolat-ad41.fr/

This genealogist has data about HATÉ in Romorantin (1945) so may try contacting him: http://gw5.geneanet.org/index.php3?b=thierrychestier&lan...

I've also found one André Henri HATÉ from Romorantin on WWI memorials website:

His great-grandson Romain HATÉ filled in some of the informations there and posted a message about him on a War Memory community: http://diables-bleus-du-30e.actifforum.com/t2755-presentatio... (translation: http://translate.google.fr/translate?js=n&prev=_t&hl...). He indicates his own grandfather (André Henri' son) died in 2007 aged 93. Once again there are good chances you are related but you'll have to register to be able to contact him (button "S'enregistrer" at the top).

Also, you'll find the French phone book on-line: http://www.pagesjaunes.fr/pagesblanches/?

And finally, here's a list of links for French Genealogy Research I've compiled and that you might find useful in the future: http://boards.ancestry.com/localities.weurope.france.general...

Good luck!

Regards,
Amandine

Amandine, THANK YOU....... What a treasure trove of information. I do have a copy of Andree's Marriage Certificate, that's where I found Charles and Adele. It's a copy dated 1945. I'll persue additional info using what you've provided. Again, THANK YOU.... Jim

Surnames: Andouard and Means
Jim,

I just came across your post. I am actually Andree and Jim Means' great-granddaughter. I am just starting to research our genealogy and look forward to learning more about our ancestry. I would be happy to share any information with you. However, I do not have a lot at this time. In the same regard, I would be interested to see how we are related and what you have learned about our family to date.

Thanks,
Melissa

Hi Melissa, My name is Jim. My Grandmother was Norma (Means) Pickens Beadnell. My GGrandmother was Andree Means. Which of my Grandmothers cyblings do you come from, Midge, Madge, or Ray ? I have limited info on Andree, but theres plenty of Means info through Dan Means @

http://dansfamilytrees.tribalpages.com

Explain your family connection and he'll give you access to the site. There's lots of info on the Means family clear back to the 1600's. The info there for Andree includes copies of birth certificate that I had sent from France, and a copy of her marrigage certificate dated 1940. Aunt Kate (Ray's wife)gave me the copy this summer while visiting. There's also various photos of our great greats there to view. Thanks for contacting me... Jim

Hi Jim!

My grandmother was Madeleine (Means) Morgan. My mother is Marilyn Sue. Thanks for Dan's info. I actually looked over his site and found a wealth of information. It was very helpful and our history is extremely interesting. We even have original passengers from the Mayflower in our ancestry.

It's been a couple years since I've seen Aunt Kate. I remember the poker games that my grandparents had with your parents, Uncle Ray and Aunt Kate when I was young. They always had such a good time together.

Have a happy and healthy holiday.

~ Melissa
