According to the 1850 census of Braxton County, Elijah Perkins, age 36, and Sarah Perkins, age 35, had 5 children at that time...John, age 13, William, age 10, Franklin, age 6 (matches with marker date of birth of 1844), Sabina, age 4 and Ellis, age 1. Ellis is my great-grandfather (Samuel Ellis Perkins) born 3/18/1849, died 8/15/1932. He married Mariah Jane Hosey on 6/19/1879. Sarah Virginia Perkins and William H Perkins (born 1840), listed above, are buried in the family plot.

According to Sutton's History (page 415):
"Thomas Perkins came from Greenbrier county to the Elk river, and settled near where the Morrison church now stands, in the year 1812. His children were David, Elijah, John, Wm., Elias, Marshall, Charles and Mary A. Thomas Perkins' wife was Polly Williams."

Thomas and Polly were married 10/14/1806. This is according to Evans, MARRIAGES CELEBRATED IN GREENBRIER. Thomas Perkins and Polly Williams were married by the Rev. Thomas Budd on 10/14/1806. I don't have definitive dates of birth and death for Thomas and Polly Perkins.

I have William M. Perkins' parents as David Perkins and Cassia Sisk. I am descended from the Gillespies so I don't have alot of info on the Perkins family until Rachel married in. I would love to know if any branch of this Sisk family ended up in Indiana? Have a good friend by this name. Just curious. Thanks.

I just started to work on my wifes family, I have nothing at all on the Sisk family, and only what I found on Anc.com about the Gillespie family. I have found out since my posting that Wm. M. Perkins had 3 wives Rachel Gillespie was his 2nd and had 7 children together.
Thanks for the reply,
Scot

Just thought I would let you know that I believe at one time what is now Braxton Co. was Greenbrier, so even though the county name was different they could have been reported in Greebrier and then it became Braxton. They probably never moved, just a county name change. Good luck in your search.
