Can anyone shed any light on my GGGgrandfather, Samuel Cain ( 1778--1807-8 )? He supposedly came from Virginia to Kentucky. He married Rebecca McGill, ( 1782--1866 ). They had one son, John Cain, (1807--1882 ). John was born in Ohio co. Kentucky. Thanks.

The West Virginia Cain's are probably distant cousins, but the Samuel Cain I'm looking for was born about 1778. But any help is appreciated. Did any of your Cain's migrate to Kentucky or Indiana?

Charlie,
My GGGG-Grandfather, Abel Cain b. 1774, named his son Samuel. Samuel and his parents were living in Toronto, OH (Jefferson Co.) in 1803. I have no earlier information on Abel. Do you have any information on your Samuel. He could be one of Abel's brothers.

I have a deed record listing a Samuel CAHIN who I am thinking might been recorded wrong and should have been CAIN. It was in the Sale of property once in Logan County, KY and became Todd County, KY. I am actually researching DN Russell who was the one who purchased it. I found some Cains in KY married Colemans. The surname Coleman appears in the same area of this property. I also see Cains buried in the Old McElwain Cemetery in what is now Todd Co. DN Russell married a McElwain. Do you have any connections to Todd, Logan or even Christian County in your research?

Thanks for any information. Vanessa Short
